Aaaaaand...we have a record, ladies and gentlemen, for the fastest angst in a kdrama, clocking in at 2 minutes 43 seconds after the first episode started. I am watching Summer Scent and we have just seen Hero run to the hospital (cabs being mysteriously unavailable) just in time to see his fiancee die. On their wedding day.
Well, to look on the bright side, his life can only go up from there...wait, it's a kdrama, I lied - I am sure it can get much worse!
Did I mention that the drama opened with Heroine's high school narration that if her heart still beats when she is older, she wants to have the most perfect and tragic love? YUP.
I am IN LOVE.
lesbiassparrow, this is so your thing!
I have also started Swallow the Sun and like it. I am, however, beginning to wonder why the maker has a fixation for having his hero view the heroine as a personal Madonna (I don't mean in the virgin/whore kind of way, but in worshipping) because that whole trope of tough guy with childhood from hell for whom one bright spot in said childhood was a girl he felt was above him? So far we got All In, Lobbyist, and now Swallow the Sun. Three dramas is beginning to push the whole 'it's just a coincidence' thing. I love this trope so no objection but I do get curious (Side note from a side note. One of my fave kdrama bits ever is related to this, in All In - the hero who is working for a tough mafia guy, mowing down rival mobsters with a machine gun so he can get to his wedding on time. I approved).
