You do get used to the singing/dancing surprisingly fast. Although some of it is so cringe-worthy and hilarious - it is certainly not meant to be taken seriously.
And totally agree about David Morrissey - his character is so fabulous, and larger than life, even though he is a complete bastard. I believe he is staring in the new ITV version of Sense and Sensibility as Brandon sometime soon.
I think my favourite scene, although it is hard to pick, is Carlisle and Natalie's first meeting at the Samaritans. You can totally see how Carlisle can be a charming bastard too. He only gets better throughout.
I have the British DVD version, and all the episodes are just about an hour long, so, yeah, they definitely cut a fair amount for BBC America if it's only 45 minutes.
I think my first reaction to the singing was "Wow, this is *really* weird," but then I came to love it.
I'm pretty sure that the version I saw had the episodes at about 55 minutes so your version might have some scenes cut out. I loved Blackpool, but I have to admit I did ff some of the singing scenes.
BBC America always cut episodes down to about 45 minutes from 55 minutes to an hour. That could be why the musical scenes seem jarring but maybe not - I haven't seen a full ep in a while.
And is it me or does he and Ripley's wife have scary chemistry? Whoa.
It's not just you. DT and Sarah Parrish have done at least 3 shows together and seem to get along really well (she was the monster in 'The Runaway Bride' Christmas Special, and they did Recovery which is AMAZING).
DT plays a head trauma victim whose entire personality changes as a result of his accident. Parrish plays his much put-upon wife. The acting, especially on DT's part is phenomenal.
Netflix doesn't have it. Any suggestions as to downloadable links? BTW, did you know that David Tennant was in HP&Goblet of Fire as Barty Crouch Jr? I tried to find his pic from there, but no luck so far...
Nope, just checked. I found DT's pics from HP. The makeup people must have been really good, and he is amazing. I barely recognized him on some of them. Too bad, he wasn't Number Ten back then. It would have made the movie much more palatable.
