I haven't done this for some time, but I've come up with 10 Resolutions for 2010:
Reduce credit card debt to half by June
Currently I have $2700 spent on a $3000 credit card. My goal is to get it reduced to 1500$ by June. I would like to have it reduced even further by this time next year, but at least by having it cut in half, I won’t feel as stressed out.
Save $700 by June
Since my contract with the BHA ends in June, much of my saving and hoarding comes from the fact I am still unsure what lies beyond, so I am trying to give myself a cushion. I have some money in my savings account, but the goal is to add 50$ every paycheck (( adding up to 100$ each month)) to build my egg nest.
Reduce loans by 5600$
This is a year long goal and is the sum of my payments as I make them now. I have already paid off over 7700$ on my loans ((totaling almost 39,000$ to start with)). I would like to add a little more when I can to help reduce payments, but for now, this is a feasible goal.
Build museum portfolio
Actually this is probably more like rebuild my museum portfolio. I’ve made some in the past that have either been part of class assignments and not returned to me ((or files were lost)) or they have been partially assembled and ignored. I would like to have this on hand not only as a selling point to future employers and grad schools, but for my own personal information.
Take the GREs
I’ve made this a goal before, but I have to begin to think about my next step and if it included Grad School, I am going to have to buck up, plunk down the money and study my patootie off. I’d like to take them around April.
Decide on Grad Schools and begin application process
This is in the same vein as the GRE. I know that I am going to have to go back to school eventually and its time to start looking to the process seriously and begin to make decisions and finalize my application list.
Travel more on less $$$
I’d like to start taking inexpensive weekend trips to places in Texas or even out of state. The time away would do me good and could even help with the program idea process.
Make it home for Dad’s 50th Birthday
My dad turns the big 5-0 in 2010 and while it might interfere with my paying off the credit card resolution, I would like to make the trip home and be there. After all, the old man will only turn 50 once.
Start to plan beyond June 2010
My contract in Brownsville is only a year long. While I’m unsure if I’ll be asked back for a second year, I do need start planning what to do after June so that I can be ready to transition smoothly into the next adventure.
I only brought down a small portion of my book collection and I’m already bored by it. I do a lot of reading on the internet, but I’m going to have to visit the library more often and start to curl up with a good book more often. I miss reading.
