Students Punished for Taunting Moose

Palmer, AK - Eighth graders at an Alaska school have been disciplined for taunting and frightening a moose so severely it threw itself into a wall repeatedly, which caused its death.  The school principal, citing privacy concerns, wouldn't say what the students did, how many were involved or how they were punished.

WHAT.  THE.  FUCK.  How can a bunch of 14 year olds, who should fucking know better, kill an animal in such a horrendous way?!  The moose part caught my eye, but even if it had been a dog or a horse or something, to do that to an animal is fucking outragous!

Moose are big ass animals and have no problem charging enemies.  Moose have been known to stomp grown men to death.  So clearly this is a case of a bunch  ((and probably a lot to intimidate)) of kids using something ((probably rocks)) to attack an animal.  It doesn't say how old the moose was or if it was  a bull or cow, but something tells me, these kids had to have been using something to attack the animal, causing it to run away instead of fight.  And they kept doing it until the animal was dead.  DEAD!!  Again, what the fuck is wrong with these kids?

I hope those little fuckers get their asses handed to them on a platter.

ETA:  I found the original ((and longer)) article online for the Wasilla newpaper.  Here it is:

PALMER - On Monday, a moose died at Colony Middle School, but questions remain regarding its death.

Before teachers realized there was a moose on the grounds, a class of eighth-graders was released for P.E., said Mat-Su School District spokeswoman Catherine Esary. By all accounts, a group of students proceeded to taunt the moose, said Esary.

Two to three minutes after the class was let out, the teacher saw the moose, caught the students who were taunting it, and sent the rest of the class inside, Esary said. She would not be more specific about what exactly the students did. An Alaska State Trooper responded to the school. According to spokeswoman Megan Peters, the trooper arrived right as the students were let out. The moose was injured upon his arrival and was so frightened it threw itself into a wall repeatedly until it died, Peters said.

The administrators have taken the necessary disciplinary actions, but Esary would not give any more details about the number of students or their punishment.

“People will say, ‘Nothing’s being done,’” said Esary. “That’s not true. But to protect the students’ privacy, I cannot discuss specific things.”

The principal held an assembly to reinforce proper actions and behavior around moose, actions and behaviors the students already knew, said Esary.

And the comments are rediculous.  I wish they'd focus on the fact that these kids killed an animal instead of Sarah Palin.  One of the students, Brianna, responded in the comments as such:

" I am an eight grader at Colony, and for one I was ready to kill those kids, they were eight graders, no it didn't run into a tree, it ran into a metal fence, three times till its antler went into its head. Most people were laughing exept my friends and I. We were crying, while others made fun of us for crying for the moose. "

I need an angry moose icon.

unnecessary death, moose, animal abuse
