Character Perception:

Dorian Gray is a positively insufferable bastard. Instead of being possessed of the virtues of youth, he possesses all of youth’s flaws and wickedness. Dorian is reckless, arrogant, narcissistic and cruel. He is lawless; paying heed to neither the social customs of his time nor those rules which bar him from criminal acts. He is absurd, a flamboyant creature who demands attention and will be especially cross if people aren’t taken with him immediately or if they don’t respond as expected to his charms or his frequent and child-like tantrums. He can fake emotions with ease and his beautiful, youthful face gives him some charismatic charm that make it difficult for people to stay angry with him. He is an accomplished liar, though with his inflated pride and flair for the dramatic, it might be difficult for him to be taken seriously.

The picture of hedonism, Dorian has devoted himself these last 18 years to the pursuit of every pleasure the world can provide, regardless of legality. Every drug that has been made available in the 1800’s has found its way into Dorian’s body. He has thoroughly explored the sex trade of his time. He has gambled and fought and stolen and raped. He seduces other young members of nobility, gets them thoroughly indoctrinated into the dangerous and sick lifestyle he lives and then leaves them to flounder. He is not above blackmailing them, ruining so many lives to keep his secrets and for the secret thrill of having done so. He has committed most every crime save for one-the willful firsthand murder of a man and where that is concerned, it is only a matter of time.

Dorian is flagrantly bisexual. If it holds his attention for long enough, he’ll probably pursue it sexually and-if he feels like adding another dimension to his little game- romantically. To be romanced by Dorian is to be subjected to the most delicate and silly Victorian courtship practices. To be seduced by him is thrilling, though he barely takes interest in those he has conquered. He has no particular kinks, but he loves to try things, providing he is in control of what happens to him.

Dorian gives off an air of carelessness and appears disaffected by even the most horrific and tragic acts. By contrast, incredibly small and stupid things will send him flying off the handle. He throws loud tantrums when he doesn’t get his way in spectacular displays most unbecoming of even a gentleman of his apparent youth. He likes putting on melodramatic displays for attention.  A little bit sociopathic.

Timeline: This is Dorian just shy of 18 years after he makes his vow to commit himself to hedonism and corruption, at the peak of his wildness and a little less than a year before the end of his timeline.
