The person next to me in this coffee shop has been making some pretty interesting web searches.

"How to feel good"

"Who is Yoko Ono?"

"Nice song lyrics"

My corner of the store is like an episode of National Geographic. This is because there are about twenty flies in this corner, and a spider has also cleverly established a web here, and so I can watch and see if the spider has any success. It has not so far, which is surprising.

Some of the flies are doing it (it) which I have never seen before. Unless some breeds of fly eat one another.

My evening has been pretty interesting, is what I am saying.

I rode my bike up to Dupont for the first time, which was successful. And continues to be successful, because my bike has not been stolen yet. I am writing a poem, but pretty soon I will start translating Italian, which is unnerving because common misconception: I do not speak Italian well enough to translate Machiavelli! :O Hopefully I will... by the time that I am done reading Machiavelli.

There is this fantastic old and weathered (Greek?) man in flannel smoking a lady's cigarette on the other side of my window.

My bike helmet is dorky. :( It sticks up far above my head and is black foam and I feel like a conehead whose head is molding SOS SOS :( :(

I REALLY like my classes this semester especially my poetry independent study which is pretty much let's-talk-about-stuff-that-Christina-likes-time and my thesis which is... oh wait! The same thing. :) Except for with a free trip to Eastern Europe for field research and a paid research assistantship on the side.

Oh, and did I mention that my employer took me to the amusement park for free yesterday?

So, things are pretty solid. Getting back into the fall groove of things is challenging but I am handling it with some degree of prowess (this is my last year of college, and all. BUT NOT MY LAST YEAR OF SCHOOLING graduate school and law school (and poetry school?) ftw)

The fact that I was pretty much the "flyest motherfucker" in my hip hop class today helped ease some of my intellectual stress. And I do get to lead a group of lucky, lucky freshmen to the Japanese Embassy this Friday. And I am doing promotional meetings for my winter trip to Guatemala all week! This calls for OUTSIDE-OF-THE-BOX-ATTIRE good thing I have increased my ratio of "steam punk" to "non-steam punk!"

Also, Julian and I are being Harley Quinn and the Joker for Halloween. Just saying... it's pretty cool.
