It has been a hot minute!

I don't have internet at my apartment... but I kind of enjoy that. I am drinking coconut bubble tea in Georgetown! It is nowhere NEAR as good as the bubble tea in Asia. I really do miss China! The streets felt so intimate; it was really lovely a great deal of the time. I love going new places so-so-so much. I put up a six foot map of the world in Julian and I's apartment today! I need to notate it with stickies. To-do stickies. And already-done-once-at least stickies.

I am starting to have a real fondness for DC, though. I am beginning to discover the little interesting-chic-unique-artistic alcoves (like the new la boum brunch burlesque french event thing at l'enfant cafe...) and that is so rewarding. My classes start next week, and I am really looking forward to them all, especially my poetry independent study where I get to revisit my bros, Marquez and Allende and Simic and Kafka--

And my *actual thesis* will be exciting, too, the more reasons I have to go to Africa and/or Europe, the better. And the more funding, the better! I need to work on funding.

Something that I have PLENTY of funding for, though, is the International Affairs Society at GW. I am putting together some pretty sweet events. Tour of the Japanese Embassy's Cultural Center on the 16th! Discussion with diplomats! Sushi! I have to pick a particularly good sushi place to suggest for the group. This may require some field research.

Also, I have strep for the third time in two months! Go go gadget new tonsils?

Unrelatedly, I wish that there were a law that every building in DC had to have a different colored front door, and so everyone would have to invent new colors...

The main outside of this window is wearing a t-shirt with penguins on it! IT IS SUMMER SIR AND YOU ARE CONFUSED. What warm and sad penguins they would be.

School starts in a week. I am trying to get in the right frame of mind for it by decorating the apartment, and doing yoga, and reading, and getting all acupunctured, and having fun with the people around me, like going to Rocky Horror last night.

It has been a busy summer, and a transitional summer, but I'd say all-in-all it has been pretty Good For Me. Except for maybe the illnesses and injuries. But hey, nothing is perfect.

And I hear that bubble tea is a cure-all, so...

:)
