Title: Guitar
Pairing: Donghae/Sungmin
Fandom: Super Junior
Rating: G
Genre: AU, Fluff
Summary: Donghae wants to learn an instrument, it's not as easy as he thinks.
A/N: Probably the last of my fics for the Suju fandom until Kangin comes back. Still staying true to that promise I made when he first left for the army. I wrote down somewhere that I should at least write one more Sungmin fic, and even though I'm not overly satisfied with this, it'll have to do. Comments are appreciated.

Donghae slowly walked down the aisle, eyes wide in amazement. He'd been in music stores before, he had a habit of CD shopping, but never did he really pay attention to the instruments on sale, placed in display on the other side of the store.

Donghae slowly walked down the aisle, eyes wide in amazement. He'd been in music stores before, he had a habit of CD shopping, but never did he really pay attention to the instruments on sale, placed in display on the other side of the store.

He never realized how spacious the store was until he crossed over, moving away from the stack of hundreds of CDs cramped into the tiny rows.

"Is there anything I can help you with?" A gentle male voice echoed from behind him. "Is there something in particular that you're looking for?"

Donghae nodded, his eyes taking one last glance at the row of CDs to his left before he turned around, facing not only the young man in sharply dressed in his work uniform, but the various musical instruments surrounding them.

"Um..." The salesperson smiled warmly, his hands folded in a polite manner. "I want to learn an instrument, but I'm not sure where to begin."

"Oh, that's easy, here. Do you have a preference? Say, a woodwind or a strings instrument? Perhaps a brass?" Donghae stole a quick glance at the nametag. Sungmin, it read; it was a cute name for a cute boy who Donghae figured to be around his age.

"Um, actually I want to learn the guitar." Donghae confessed, smiling nervously as he stuffed his hands in the pockets of his light blue sweater.

"Don't be nervous, at least you have an idea about where you want to start." The pair began walking towards the back of the shop, where an assortment of instruments hung off the wall, delicately spaced out for an extravagant presentation. "I remember when I first started, I had absolutely no clue about which instrument to choose."

"Oh, you play an instrument?" Donghae asked spontaneously without realizing. "Oh, sorry about that."

"Sorry?" The boy laughed a rather polite, girly laugh, "Nah, I'm totally fine talking about music. I play the guitar, piano and harmonica. I'm learning how to play drums right now, as well."

"You play the guitar?" Donghae dragged his eyes away from the boy, already scanning the walls for a guitar to his preference.

"Yep, acoustic and electric. My first instruments, actually. Just like you." The boy gently patted his shoulder. "Trust me, it's a good choice. My personal favourite. And here, we have some acoustic guitars and electric guitars, but I wouldn't recommend those ones just yet, unless you're really keen on that."

"No, I was thinking acoustic too." Donghae relaxed, his shoulders less tense as he turned around to make eye contact again. Were all sales people this nice? "They look easier to handle."

"Yes, and no." The pair went on into a conversation about said instrument, Sungmin going on in detail about the characteristics of a guitar, Donghae occasionally giving a nod. He studied the salesperson; he looked young, not much older than him. He wore a typical uniform, his dress shirt a faint shade of pink, his hair lightly styled. A modest look for a Saturday afternoon.

"So, Sungmin, you'd recommend an accoustic, right?" Donghae gently padded the smooth surface of a beige guitar, the tips of his fingers gliding along the polished surface.

The boy smiled warmly, holding out a hand. "Yeah, I'd recommend that. And you are?"

"Oh. My name is Donghae. Lee Donghae." Donghae bit his bottom lip, taking the hand and the two shared a firm handshake. "So, which one do I pick?"

"Oh, you're adorable..." Sungmin raised an eyebrow before he giggled, politely covering his mouth. The two made eye contact, awkwardness suddenly blanketing over the conversation. "Um, you just pick which one you like..."

Donghae slowly paced down the path, scanning the row of guitars, each instrument hooked onto the wall by the base and neck. Gradients of beige, brown, peach dotted the wall.

"This one." Donghae grinned, patting a Yamaha FG700S. Sungmin noddded, inwardly impressed by the other's choice since the guitar is a great start for beginners. Maybe this Donghae was really meant to play guitar, or maybe he just got lucky.

"I'll go get a new one for you at the back, so you can check the box and everything."

"Um.. I have another question." Donghae gently tapped his arm. "I kinda don't know how to start..."

"Well, we provide paid lessons to customers who display interest, but I'll get back to you on that. Let me go grab a new guitar first, and I can explain it to you while you examine the packaging and everything, if that's okay." Sungmin smiled again, bright and gleeful.

Again, Sungmin went on another miniature speech about the lessons their company provides, the different times and rates tailored depending on the customer's ability, schedule, and countless other unimportant variables established to crank up lesson prices, while Donghae was clueless at checking the guitar, only carrying it and looking over its exterior but he was listening to Sungmin.

"Or, I could teach you, if you want." Sungmin leaned forward, whispering softly as he took the credit card from Donghae's hands. "We'd both benefit, even though it's technically against store policies."

"Oh no. I wouldn't, I wouldn't want to get you in trouble or anything." Donghae immediately countered. Sungmin was a nice guy, helpful and easy to talk to.

"Not if we're friends outside of this business transaction." Sungmin swiped the card, the machine making a series of beeps as it churned out a receipt. "I can see your interest, and you seem pretty bright and fun. But, it's your choice, really..."

"I'd love to, you seem pretty cool too, and I think we're around..."

"Trust me, first hand account of the teachers here. Real bitches, snappy and demanding." Sungmin blurted out before shielding his snicker when a woman in her late twenties walked by, a young teen trailing behind her, head drooped low and feet shuffling. "Here, take this." He swooped down, scribbling down something while Donghae mirrored the action signing the receipt.

"Thanks, um, Sungmin." Donghae stuffed the card in his pocket, nodding as he took the receipt with his other hand. "Should I give you my number, just in case?"

"I don't see why not." Sungmin handed him the same pen and a small scrap piece of paper that decorated the counter. Donghae wrote down both his home and cell number before handing it back. Patting the back of his pants to ensure his wallet was there, Donghae waved and began to walk away.

"Donghae!!"

"Yeah?"

"You forgot the guitar..." Sungmin patted the box from behind the guitar, shaking his head. "Maybe I should take back what I said about you being bright."

"Oh, right." Donghae gave a goofy laugh, realizing the situation. Sungmin reciprocated the laughter as Donghae slinked out of the store, wondering why his cheeks were warm and tingly.
