I have spent years without it and had internet before it was internet, and I just spent extra hours at work, playing there. No need to have it at home.

Mind you, there was less to find in those days, or if you found the stuff, you might end up with ASIO at your door.

I didn't bother to get it at home until 8 years ago. I was out of work and needed to get a new job, by then, it was the best way to get a new job. Although, my jobs still ended up coming from people who knew me, phoning me up, which actually means it didn't achieve what I got it for.

My attitude to home internet access, although that is now changing, is that it was to be provided by work, because they were the people that needed me most on it. I also had other study to do and didn't want to spend my days wasted away on a computer, which is so easy to do.

Trying to get someone away from their computer, to have a relationship with them, can be very difficult. I have used all sorts of methods in my time. In fact, the most amusing comment I got regarding some methods was said after almost all my clothes that I had been wearing were thrown at internet-connected boyfriend, "I knew when your underpants landed on my keyboards that if I didn't leave the computer now, I would never get any of it again", the 'it' was refering to sex.
