This time it really has been a while

I think this is the longest I've gone without updating my lj. Because so much is happening & has happened I'll have to make this pretty basic.

I have been having an amazing semester so far. Two weeks ago was my big week. First, on a Tuesday I found out I got into the study abroad program in Emerson for next fall. I AM SOOO EXCITED. Emerson has this Castle in the Nethertlands called Kasteel Well, and any major can go there etc. but they pick mostly seniors and sophmores. Most weekends they kick people out of the school, so it is mandatory to travel to as many different countries as possible. I cannot wait to spend the fall of my senior year travelling all over Europe! The next amazing thing that happened was that I finally got a job on campus. Now I am working at the Cutler-Majetic Theatre as an Usher. Anyone who went to highschool with me knows how much I miss doing Theatre and how I love seeing shows, so I can't wait to start seeing shows for free. I have only gone to one training session, but I have 5 days of work this month, which I can't wait for. Then I finally joined a club. It's called the Newman club, and it is that Catholic organization on campus, that does service work and jesus-type stuff together. i miss doing the Gospel Roads and all the service work of highschool, and all my GR friends as well, so I'm really excited to back into this type of environment...you all know how religious I used to be. Not to mention both my club & job are on campus, so hopefully I will get more involved with things and meet more people too.

Classes are going great too. I take two Lits (British Lit & African-American Lit) and two Women's classes for my minor (Intro. to Womens/Gender Studies & Women Media & Globalization). So far I really like my classes but I am constantly swamped with reading. Sometimes I'll have over 200 pages to read for just one class. The good thing though is that I'm becoming a faster reading because of it, so it is getting a little easier. For me Gender Studies class, we are required to either write a 20 page paper or do volunteer work for a Gender or Sexual Orientation related program. Hopefully, I think I am going to do the volunteer option. I am sooo excited because next week I have a meeting with the two women in charge of the Cambridge Womens Commission (an organization that does programs promoting gender equality). It was my first choice volunteer oppurtunity & on the information packet, it says they are only picking one person. They are even talking about internship/paying oppurtunities, which leads me to believe they are very interested in letting me work for them. For class I am required to do 15 hours of service, but that would be really cool to be exposed to a real-life career that incorporates both my major & one of my minors (they need someone to write, research, & edit for the Women's Heritage Trail Project). Hopefully I'm not getting excited over nothing, but it seems like they are very flexible and this will be one of those career-shaping experiences, to see how much i really like writing and/or women's studies.

In other news I got 2 $200 checks this week for jack shit (not working at all). stoppie decided to give me my unused sick, vacation pay etc. then i cancelled my car insurance & got $$ back from them too. Soooo nice to have $$. This weekend I'm really excited for because I'm going to down to Providence for Christina's B-Day with my girls from back home. I haven't seen them since the summer. I will also hopefully see Mike because he's coming home again, and hopefully hit up a party @ matt & dan's with my summer partiers. Oh yeah, and my mom bought my sister a kitten for the new apartment. In case you didn't know, I'm living w/my sis in Beacon Hill this year. Anyways, so we have a baby Carmello around, because he's the color of carmels. SO CUTE! I miss living with Lydia, but I have both of my Women's classes w/her so i still hang out with her a lot. Also, got Bon Jovi tickets for December, now all's that left is to get Queen ones <--- is this my year or what? What's the likelihood Queen would go on tour again nevermind the same year as Jon Bon

This is really great. I'm finally understanding why people love being at school so much.
