I'm eating green grapes right now. They were my reward for a very intense workout tonight. But I'll get to that in a minute. This post starts with last Thursday.
I had a chemistry test that I wasn't expecting so soon. Luckily I had been studying the material as she taught it, and had Wesley's help. I ended up making an 82, which is comparably better that most of the people in the class. I am so appreciative of Wesley's help. He has been a very patient tutor and it has made a huge difference.
Before class Thursday I went to the William Carey gym for the first time. I had just found out WC even had a gym. It's small and quite and there is usually a machine or two down, but I really enjoy going. Thursday I did the almost all of the machines, lots of cardio and no weights. I was there for an hour. It really felt good to be exercising again. I haven't been to a gym since eleventh grade when Mom got us memberships to the YMCA.
Friday Wesley and I drove to Athens. It was a smooth drive on a pretty day. We took Jezebel (my accord) and she Loved being on the open road. Friday night was fun. We had dinner at Michael Stipe's vegan diner. It was tasty and filling. Saturday we walked around downtown Athens, went to a couple of vintage stores, and ate more good food. Saturday night consisted of wine on the front porch and a nice solitary walk downtown again.
Sunday a group of us went to church for Easter. The service was this Anglo-Catholic yet low-church mixture that I'm still trying to digest. I enjoyed it but, I dunno, something...
The drive back was full of conversation and a smooth ride as well. It was great to get home and see Chloe. She is such a Sweet Girl!
Monday I was exhausted. I worked out for 45 minutes in the morning before class, went to class, and came home and slept all afternoon. It was such a waste of an afternoon. I did go with Wesley to Paul B State Park early that evening. It was very pleasant.
This morning I overslept and didn't go work out. I went to chemistry and still felt confident that I understood what the teacher was saying. It was a good feeling.
After that I went to my advisement for school. I got the class I need this summer and she signed me up for my classes I will have this fall in the nursing program. I found out that I will need a stethascope (which are expensive!), TB tests, Professional CPR training, Hep B vaccines, a uniform, text books and a medical dictionary all before class starts in the fall. Crazy stuff. What's even crazier is that I am finally so close.
After that I went to work for a little while this afternoon and then went to visit Lyerly and her daughter Claire, who is crawling now. It was nice to have some girl time. I don't know what I would do without Lyerly.
After that Wesley and I had dinner at BW3 and played trivia. Dinner was good but trivia sucked. Wesley came over to help me with my Chem again and I realized that all I needed was the motivation to do it.
When Wesley left I was ready to give up for the day but forced myself to get up and go work out. I'm glad I did.
I worked out for an hour doing the bike, the tread mill, the arm machines, crunches, weights and a leg machine. By the time I left I was so red in the face that the area around my mouth had gone pale again. It was crazy go nuts! But it felt great, especially after I got the runner's high on the tread mill. It was also good tonight because even though there were people in there, I didn't feel shy about working out in front of them. That's new for me and I like it.
So here I am, typing this awfully long post before I hop in the shower and hit the hay for a great night's sleep.
The rest of the week will be pretty chill with more classes, work-outs and work, but nothing major until Saturday when I drive up to Tuscaloosa to hang out with Sarah. I am excited and curious about this weekend. I haven't been to a bar in a looooooooooong time. It will be a fun change of pace. I am also excited about learning to stitch. I think that is going to be great. Oh! And the German bakery is going to be a wonderful treat to cap off the weekend. This will be my first solitary road trip since I went to Virginia.
Speaking of Virginia, Laura is coming down in August!! YEAH!! DOUBLE YEAH!!
