So, me and
b_dsaint(Miz) left Tally around oh dark-o-clock and got into Boston around 11:30, then killed an hour being lost in Logan /o\ But then we got a
solar_cat(Frankie) who put up with my crazy and having to write a paper that was due in 4 hours and my crippling anxiety and took me to Friendly's. That was some yummy stuff you guys. We dont have that in the south. Bottomline, I got my paper turned in and then the 5 of us - Miz, Frankie,
zeenell(Nell), me and
psuedo_catalyst(Sydney) all piled into the car and drove down to Hartford.
Here, have some shots of us in the car :P. I included this because OMG SIDNEY, MIZ, AND FRANKIE DECIDED THAT IT WOULD BE AWESOME TO WEAR THE SHIRTS I MADE! \o/ Don't my girls look gorgeous? I think yes.
This show was unique in that there were two opening bands. Miz fell in LOLZY love with the opening bb!band called Queen Killing Kings. They were...they were distinctive in the same way that the lead singer from Coheed and Cambria is distinctive (meaning he will need a LOT of time to grow on me) but dear god, you guys. Ridiculous. It's hard to articulate it but they had melodramatic song titles and things like that. I was incredibly tired by this point so I didnt really pay close attention. I was too distracted by the combination of exhaustion and the way that, based on how you punctuation, that title of their band was REALLY mysogonistic. Because really? Could you be more Tudor-y and not in a good way? I talked to him about it and he was like "It could go either way but I'm glad you asked! Its supposed to refer to chess pieces though." Sure.
I sat out Hey Champ. There was a bar.
I didnt drink because of my delicious mental health cocktail but I got some shots in the area so you could get a feel for the place.
While I was busy not drinking, Miz and Nell were on this mini-quest to get the bartender to make a Jolly Rancher. This apparently involved much googling. and also, Nell was on her own personal quest to get dri-zzunk. So cute I could die yall.
But then, then there were the Black Cards you guys.
Oh, the Black Cards. I took a lot of pictures you guys. A lot. So there's a cut because there is mostly pictures because I was fairly distracted by how lovely everyone was that first show. The majority of the video from the first show is just Pete talking but the first video is the only fairly decent version of Sex I managed to get a hold of.

Then Pete took off that fucking ridiculous hoodie and had a Black Cards long-sleeve button down underneath. Peter Lewis, you are such a merch slut. You're lucky I fucking adore you. *sighs*
I was right up against the stage for the show and it was awesome. They were shockingly good. That's what I remember most about that first show - I was completely and utterly stunned by how fucking good they were. I mean, Pete obviously knows what he's doing or Fall Out Boy wouldn't have gotten as big as it did but THIS band and THIS sound were fantastic. And, you know, there was that part where Pete gave a shout out to ICH and was like "I MADE THE MEET UP!" and was generally so meta that my fourth wall was screaming. But ugh, such good times. I didnt get that video /o\ but other bits of him talking are under the cut. My favorite from that first night was the one where he talked about how he used to be the sad guy (sings: let me tell you bout the sad man *jazz hands*) and now he's not and it's just. You guys. You guys he's fucking HAPPY now. He loves his life and his family and the new music he's making and he is so happy that it makes ME happy and gives me hope. He gives me hope like you dont even know.
That first show you got a hint of how awesome Bebe was but, as I said, it was the first show. So it wasn't her full level of kick ass yet. Give it a few months and a few more shows and I think she's going to blow all of us out of the water. She's got SERIOUS presence on top of a serious voice and some ridiculously good looks. And for the record - she sounds so much better live than she does in the studio versions that are released its not even funny.
Afterwards, people waited outside, in fuck-off-cold Connecticut rain for Pete and Bebe to come out (a mistake they learned from for the next two shows). It was freezing and wet and despite wearing my coat I was Not Prepared. I'm from Florida okay. We do wet and we do hot while they mix and match, wet RARELY mixes with hot. It's just not how we roll down here. But we did wait and eventually Pete came out people were all crowdy and I started getting anxious again because, IDK if I told yall, but I kind of...made him a Black Cards hoodie? Yeah. /o\ I'm one of those fans. But I gave it to him and Miz got not so-great-because-it-was-dark video of our conversation which was me giving it to him and telling him that one of the reasons I got help was because of things that he said and did. I got multiple hugs when other people got none and not one but TWO fangirl "aaaaaaaaaaaws".
The video is under the cut if you really want to see it but PLEASE dont spread it around? This is for yall because you understand what I've been going through lately. *hands*

You can BARELY hear it but there it is if you want.
I gave Bebe her shirt as well (as I made one for her too) and she was freaking atwitter. She was so excited you guys. Because this is her first "big" band and I dont think she's ever gotten a present from a fan. She was looked at it and went "Oh my god! I HAVE TO SHOW PETE!" and since Pete was busy showed the body guard instead because look! Presents! *laughs* Welcome to the Decaydance ranks, Bebe. You're ours now.
And then we drove back to Boston. Wet. *wrinkles nose* Not the funnest of all the drives but agh! SO AWESOME! *Twirls* So, yes, that was the first night. Then we retired to Nell and Frankies and there was much sleeping. End of Day 1!
