In case you haven't seen it before, there are some excellent reasons to be suspicious of the new "academic" fanfic survey that's going around, starting with the fact that it doesn't meet any of the ethical or methodological standards I'm familiar with for social research and ending with the fact that it's designed to support a book called Rule 34: What Netporn Teaches Us About The Brain that already has a publish date of 2010 and was sold on a pitch that clearly predates the "research".

... which, in a roundabout way, reminds me of
this. Do not attempt to pet the dingo fandom. (Also, mostly unrelated, but

I've spent the last week and a half frantically shoring up the dams so that nothing floods during the week and a half I'm gone. And not writing about Babylon 5, or much of anything else. ...aaaand this is why I never take vacation.
ANYWAY.
I'm leaving for Dragon*Con on Thursday, and I think the usual suspects all know that already, but if you're going to be there and want to try to meet up, let me know!
The guest list this year is especially exciting: Leonard Nimoy and;William Shatner, Rachel Luttrell; Ben Browder AND Claudia Black (together! For THREE PANELS! Two of which are on Farscape!). Uh. Some other stuff I can't remember right now, since
asta77 is the keeper of the panel schedule. Anyway, it should be awesome as long as it doesn't rain on us while we're standing in one of those many lines that go around the building five times.
