There's been some emergency family stuff lately, so I haven't had much time to read, let alone post on LJ.  However, the story I'm writing is coming to the part where I need to do some more research, and while I've been doing some specific research, I'm looking now for more general information for worldbuilding

I don't have particular fairy tale or folktale recommendations, alas, but it looks like you've got a good set of recommendations from the Athanarel crowd.

Thanks, and I did :). But no recommendations? I'm surprised -- I thought for sure you would have a list of them. ;P

I'm actually source poor in lots of ways :-\ I got most of my fairy tales from the colored fairy books, especially the green one. I did have a book, as a kid, called Chinese Folk and Fairy Tales, but I haven't looked at it in ages.

I never read the colored fairy books -- my libraries haven't had them. :( I do believe my school library had them, but I ran out of time to read and then forgot. :( :(

And see -- you did end up giving me a recommendation! :P I shall remember to find the colored fairy books when I get back to school, and even though I hope (hopehopehope) to have the rough draft done by then, I can read them before I do the first draft.

I have some kids' fairy tale books if you want to borrow them. Especially we have a book of flood stories from around the world, so that's got a bunch of mythologies in it. I also have a copy of Grimm's tales and I think a book of Greek and Roman myths, although that might be less what you're looking for...
