Brisbane drivers are still worse when it comes to merging though, seriously. You guys pretty much have to learn to merge and let ppl in or traffic would come to a standstill. Apparently here, we have ALL DAY TO MERGE and feel ABSOLUTELY NO NEED to let anyone else in, nor do we ever need to CHECK TO SEE IF THERE'S A CAR RIGHT WHERE WE'RE PLANNING TO BE. Also, when we nearly cause an accident, it seems we are duty bound to become INEXPLICABLY PISSED OFF at the person and/or people we almost killed.
It's a wonder any of us are alive, the way most people drive.
I drove while I was in Port Douglas and i lost my road rage up there.
Was so calming to drive up there. It took me weeks to get use to driving in Sydney after that. I was scared!!!! But hey, road rage is back! I've learnt nothing!
UGH! MERGING!!! Don't get me started!
Now most Sydney drivers do let people in while there's traffic and are almost considerate when it comes to merging, but there's those occasionally narks who just do not let you through! I guess being that extra car ahead in traffic will mean you get to work early and might have time for a danish and a coffee! BAH!
OMGOSH don't get me started on that either!! I can't believe the idiocy of people who drive up your arse trying to get you to speed and when you don't, eventually pass you at 20k over the speed limit, only to end up right in front of you at the next red light! WTF you assholes!?! Yeah, that was really worth risking lives over. f*cktards.
I'm with you on almost all counts, all but one. Speaking as a cyclist, it is our right to take a lane provided there is no bike lane provided for us, it is incredibly dangerous to ride in the gutter because sydney's gutters aren't very well kept, and people have a tendency to not see you or not move far enough out of the way (I've been run down by cars twice riding in the gutter). As far as obeying the little green man, there are places in Sydney that actually have bikes dedicated to cyclists and I always follow (and force my friends to follow) those signals, but apart from that, we only have to pay attention to the actual traffic lights, as long as we don't actually hit any of the pedestrians on the way through.

And you should have to get a license if you want to ride too!
