Who/what should I dress up as for Halloween?

What do Muggles usually wear on Halloween? I've heard they dress up... Is it like fancy clothes? But I've also heard that Muggle children go around begging for candy... Why would you dress up to do that?

My potion was the right colour today! Nevermind that it had the consistency of jelly and smelled of wet dog. The point is, I got the colour right, and it didn't explode!
