Today, Google taught me that if you're a fan of This Bike is a Pipe Bomb, you'd be wise not to display sticker love for them upon your own bike. Bad things will happen to you ( Read more... )

hey, i was just playing the song "seeing double" by madeline on the guitar.

"I know by now that friendships are never a fixed thing, and that the person you are best buddies with one moment, may be someone you just don't talk to much anymore, the next. This knowledge doesn't make it suck less, though."

ah, you're so right. you once said something like this in a letter to me, and i was struck by how spot-on it was.

Funny that, I was thinking how I'd love to learn how to play her songs, when I buy a guitar (which will be soon). I'd like to learn the one about shaking in boots, and milk going bad. I think it's one of my favourites.

And I do occasionally sprout out words of wisdom, along with my meaningless babble. :P

"i'm shaking in my boots, and my eyes are facing down, i'm kickin a can you know, in front of your house..." also one of my favorites. those songs are sad but so pretty.

instead of buying a guitar, you should ask the universe, and then be on the lookout from kind friends and dumpsters! though buying would possibly be faster, and maybe not TOO expensive. but i paid $0 for my three beautiful guitars :-)

hey! i like everything you say.

"...Maybe sleeping is so you can wake from dreams. Maybe waking is harder than it seems..."

They are sad. but my goodness, so pretty. That song most of all. I wanna play it. Or have someone play it for me. Can you play that one?

I know... I'd really rather have one come into my hands free of charge. But I don't know where I'd go about obtaining one. Maybe I'll just start pestering all my co-workers and such. Just randomly ask everyone I know if they have a guitar I can borrow/own. As for dumpsters, though... Guitars are kinda fragile, eh? I don't know if they'd survive a stint in a dumpster very well....

And hey, if you've got three guitars, maybe I should be hitting you up for some free musical insterment goodness. ;)

And be careful about making a statement like that, without being aware of everything that passes from between these lips... Heh.

no, i only know one madeline song. :-( i gotta get better at figuring things out by ear.

asking everyone you know is a fine plan! that's how i got the best one of my three. asking around. this guy i know happened to have a beautiful, functional guitar that he had no use for. score! the second was a family heirloom (from my great-grandmother, a 1908 gibson! beautiful!), and the third i found in its case in the trash! i should give you that one (i'm rather attached to the other two), but getting it to you would probably cost more than buying one of higher quality. (it appears that someone broke the head off and then glued it back on, which is pretty sketchy. it sounds ok, though.) however, if you're desperate, it's yours.

have you tried freecycle?

heheh, i know, blanket statements are always risky propositions. i trusted, however, that you wouldn't take me too seriously, and that you'd know what i meant. (namely, i like everything you say to me!)

I suspect that when I finally get my hands on a guitar, figuring things out by ear might be the way to go. I almost got a decent chunk of a Death Cab For Cutie song figured out, when I was fiddling around with guitars at the shop... I need to know more about cords and stuff though, before I can figure things out on my own properly ( ... )
