Today, Google taught me that if you're a fan of This Bike is a Pipe Bomb, you'd be wise not to display sticker love for them upon your own bike. Bad things will happen to you.
I wish I had the ability to be artistic with the words and letters I arrange here, so that those who read them could properly get a sense of how it might have felt to be there. To feel the wind against their shin, bared to the world by the pant leg that was rolled up to prevent snarling with the bicycle chain. Feel it, instead of simply read about it.
Would that I could, but my talent seems to lie more with creating visual images, not mental imagery brought on by typed text.
I think, one of the most compelling reasons for owning a digital camera is to be able to capture images that aren't worthy of spending a lot of time and money on. Not the beautiful works of fine art, but simple things that one encounters as they go about their day, and want to remember, and share. The snapshot of you and your friends, where everyone is mugging for the camera. The sun is making you all squint, and casting ugly shadows, but that's not important.
I listened to Madeline while tearing down wallpaper today, and was reminded of my own encounter with people on the Plan-It X lable I found myself missing the friend with whom I shared that encounter with. Mason jars and scarves were never so entertaining. I compare that moment to my most recent interaction with said friend, and was saddened. I know by now that friendships are never a fixed thing, and that the person you are best buddies with one moment, may be someone you just don't talk to much anymore, the next. This knowledge doesn't make it suck less, though.
I think now, it is time for a little less melancholy thought, and a little more sleep.
