So long Sydney

We spent the weekend in Sydney. We caught the train up together. It was nice not driving, and also worked well to stay in the centre of the city. The trains ran on time, so that was a good start.

We met my auntie Rose for dinner on Friday night, she works near Darling Harbour, so we walked around that area before having dinner in Chinatown. Next day got to meet up with my good friend Rock n Roll Joel. He lives in Western Australia, so don't get to see him too often. We first met at a show in Coffs Harbour. The "Army of Darkness" tour I mentioned in a recent post. At the time he lived in Adelaide, so he drove over.

It was fun chatting about those old days, and many of these shows I have some great memories of those fun times. They have two kids, and the older is only a few months older than Nico, so we had some fun playing together and also went to the Powerhouse Museum. I have a membership for Questacon, so I was able to get in for free.

The main reason for the trip was to go and see Arsenal. It was a bit of fun with plenty of beers. Also met up with Todd and Ben there. It worked well in a crowd of over 80,000, we were all in reasonably similar areas of the stadium, so we could meet up before the game and at half time. Drank some beers with Joel after the game and then back for some sleep. Arsenal beat Western Sydney Wanderers 3-1 in the end. Nice to see some goals.

We caught a ferry yesterday and had a big lunch with plenty of family. It was great to catch up with Grandma, she's just back from going to Norway for my cousin's wedding. It was a bit of a long ride to catch the train back, we got back quite late. I had thought Nico would sleep on the train, but he was up and energetic all the way along, though we were able to get him to sleep fairly quickly once we got home, which was about 11 at night.

I'm working an overnight shift tonight. Before going off on our trip I had to finish early and look after Nico because he was quite sick. So it's worked out at being quite some time between shifts.
