As I mentioned, we headed down to the beach - El Canelo is the name of the place. We had a very relaxing time - didn't really do too much, just eat some food, have some drinks and I went for a good long walk, to the next town El Quisco. Just getting along walking along the beach, through the streets of a town I was not at all familiar with, that was good. I walked for a long time and had plenty of time to think about a variety of things that were on my mind.
Also it was great to explore a new stretch of coastline - I said it a couple of weeks back, but I really know next to nothing about the Chilean coastline, or too much about the geography. At least by now I am pretty familiar with the different regions, but the fact that I have only been in the central area of Chile means I still have a lot to learn.
Here is a picture of me from this morning. The conditions were not so great most of the time we were there (very cold today and a lot of fog around). Yesterday afternoon turned out super nice though, when I began my walk the sun popped up and made it a very pleasant walk. As I was heading back to the place we stayed, I looked at the sun and decided I was on time to see it drop into the ocean. I got some cool pictures - here is one.
That wasn't the best of the bunch, I will have to have a closer look at the photos in the future. It was a good spot down there - not too much happening, but I could see a lot of potential for some seriously huge waves getting into the area. Yesterday wasn't the day though. I am not so sure if I am right, I will have to check it out another time.
I have to say, it has been great to have a proper camera again. That is something I really missed having on our trip in Asia (or actually, pretty much all of the trips I have taken overseas). I have never had too much luck with cameras, always losing or breaking them. This one has already proved quite worthwhile to have, and I got some cool footbag stuff on video too.
This week we are heading towards the end of the month. I will be reviewing my list I made at the start of the month, and planning a similar list for next month too. The idea is I will be putting myself into a much clearer structure. In reality right now I am throwing myself to the wind. Of course a lot will depend on whether or not I get this job, but that in itself is only part of the equation.
If not, too bad, though that would be a great opportunity to really build as a "travel writer". My basic ideas though are about allocating my time, just like a budget, then reviewing how I am using the time. It will also be about managing stress and anxiety, as well as time and money.
Particularly if I get this job, it is getting to the point where I will not just be floating along, I will be able to begin paddling in my chosen direction. Let's see how all that goes.
One note on footy, which I have not been paying great attention too, but like to know what's happening. The Raiders are pretty well screwed without Campese for the season once again - however, I think he will be back and I think/hope the Green Machine will be better oiled to cope with the change this year. I was disappointed to read that Country lost to City, and even moreso that the game may be done for good - as someone from the Country - that was the big game when I was growing up. It has lost a lot of meaning over recent years, but the stand alone rep weekend does good for the match. Let's see what happens next year.
