more good times

parents came up last night and took me out for a birthday dinner

(I'm not actually sure why they had this great plan to come up a week before my birthday, but anyway, it was good)

parents and Alison came over, and they dropped off a massive box of food for me, which was nice of them. Dad also gave me money for my Tool ticket, $65 of which I put aside, the rest which I planned on spending on beer (which I pretty much did) :/

So we went and wandered around Civic for a while, which was definitely really gay and boring. Then we went and checked into the "Quality Suites" on Northbourne. Pretty much walked in and went to sleep for a few hours.

We went out and had a massive Turkish Banquet. We only got a banquet for 2, and that was way too much for 4 people. Rather tasty though. We went to Kingo's and had a beer, which was nice becasue I didn't pay for it. Whilst there I saw Dan Smiley and told him to come to Four Dead, but he didn't, so I told him to come on Friday for the Neck Up show, which he said he would.

Went to the Church Transit bar for the ....Dead show. We got there before anyone was on the door, and they didn't get us to pay at anytime during the show, which meant an extra $10 for beer. Which I drank plenty of.

Pretty big turnout, being back there brought back plenty of memories. You could tell that about 97% of the crowd were just there to see ....Dead (the other 3% were in Lamexcuse or Super Best Friends)

so while the first bands played, everybody drank heaps of beer. Good times, but probably spent too much coinage. Alison was on the wine and orange juice, and hence the term has been coined for her "goon girl" (it runs in the family).

By the time Four Dead were on, it was pretty damn packed. Pretty good set. BUT..The security guards were way too gung-ho tough guys, who had clearly never been to/worked on/seen/heard about a hardcore show. They simply couldn't handle it. Dave got kicked out, I'm not entirely sure what it was actually for, but pretty sure it was something pretty small. I was suprised to see him return with his face completely intact.

After the show we went over to Ug Beats at Toast. Not really my kinda music, and I was out of cash, so I was relying on Alison to buy me a couple of beers. And she was sitting next to random sleazebag dudes in the hope of them buying her drinks. Not really a good idea. I got the shits with her at some stage because she was too wasted and I had to be looking after her so I was like RIGHT WE'RE GOING NOW. Said bye to Chrissy and went looking for Morgan and co, but I think they left, so we went back to the suites.

Woke up pretty fucking early this morning, with a fairly massively sore head. We went and had a pretty big breakfast downstairs at the place, but some of the food was pretty suss, and some the plates were really dirty.

Then I got dropped off home, and just waiting on Sam to pick me up and we're going to go to Sydney. Going to Atreyu/36CF...looks like it's going to rain, which kinda sucks. Might put a dampener (good pun Dan!) on our cricket outside the roundhouse plans, but ah well.

Playing footbag tomorrow with Ian and Dyalan at Sydney uni, pretty keen on that, it's been a while since I've played with those guys. Then we come back later in the day.

The raiders won last night (only just, after leading 26-0 at halftime)....so me, Doug and Thommo might go up to Sydney next weekend and watch the Raiders v Bulldogs final and then sydney again the week after for Fear Factory. That's a lot of Sydney trips, but hey...I'm on holidays!
