So yesterday I had dinner with my dad and sister. I was surprised when my dad arrived at my mom's house in a small SUV. He bought it new (but cheap) earlier in the day so it still had the new car smell and everything. He gave me a $250 gift certificate for Best Buy (yay), and I gave him some fudge I had made since I really didn't have money for anything better.
Anyway, the three of us went out to Gandhi's, the Indian restaurant in Silverdale. We got some of this really thin bread that came with dipping sauce and some garlic naan (another type of bread). I got lamb vindaloo, my dad got chicken vindaloo, and my sister got some chicken in an onion/tomato sauce. Anyway, the whole time we talked about various topics. It was pretty cool because I don't think I've ever seen my sister have a conversation with my dad before, and I haven't really talked to my sister in ages either. I guess all the bad blood is behind us. Heh, the funny thing was talking to my sister about various aspects of music production, seeing as how I took a couple courses in it a few years back and she's actually going to school entirely for that reason. Anyway, I got some lamb vindaloo and some of what my sister had as leftovers which shall be my lunch on a later date. Huzzah.
For those of you who don't know, I kind of made a life decision the other day. After baking with Diane the other week and doing some baking myself, I realised that I have a lot of fun doing it, and I'm fairly good at it. My original plan for life was to just work on my writing skills and eventually get things published, and perhaps go to college and get an English or History degree. But now I'm thinking I could probably do more with a vocational degree. I see Diane and her baking skills and with her talent and what she's learned I know she could make quite a lot of money eventually. So I've decided this: I'm going to go to some college (haven't decided which yet) and get me a degree in baking or cooking of some kind. This way I'll actually have a USEFUL degree and can have a real job that makes me money if the writing thing never takes off.
So yeah, that's my plan. I ran it past my parents and they seemed to think it was a good idea but unfortunately didn't offer up any money. I couldn't figure out how to get those student loans Red Lobster allegedly gives out either. So somehow I'm going to have to find the money to do this somewhere...
I dunno, I'm sure it will work out somehow.
Anyway, today I have to work (blah) and later do xmasy stuff with my family and spend the night at my mom's. It kind of sucks that I'm only getting a one-day holiday, but oh well. Not much I can do about that.
xmas,
