World's Healthiest Foods

This may sound silly but until recently I didn't fully understand how to have a balanced diet. I always knew I should eat my fruits and veggies and stay away from the sweets and fried stuff but I never really knew the different nutrients and stuff that I should be getting and what foods have these nutrients in them. Recently however I have become more interested in this as I am trying to live a healthier life and tone up a bit. While I was doing some research online I found the coolest website... http://www.whfoods.com/ The World's Healthiest Foods. This website was saying that these foods should consist 75% of your diet. I took a survey and currently they only consist 65% of my diet. I think that this percentage is much higher than it would have been in America due mostly to the fact that I eat a lot of tofu, seaweed, buckwheat and other things on the list because they are staples of the Japanese diet.

It was fascinating reading about these different nutrients and their importance. I think that knowledge like this is not really that widely available (Meghan, maybe it is and I just dont know it) but I feel like growing up I learned the food pyramid but never really the reasoning behind it.
