The first meme I've ever been arsed to do...

May 26, 2008 15:55

it must be the bank holiday rain. Jonjust hit me up with this meme:

List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they’re not any good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying now, shaping your spring. Post these instructions in your blog along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they’re listening to’.

Like him, I never get around to these things, so here goes:

1. Sizzla - I'm gonna give you. Via Heatwave's blog. Don't really know Sizzla's music, much to my chagrin, but I really like this. Dancehall gold.

2. Tynchy Stryder ft. Fuda Guy - 16 Writers. most played on my MP3 player this week. Killer E3 gangster bizness. The refrain is so OTT it' ridiculous, but the energy of the tune and the flows is amazing if you can feel this stuff. Grime really is going through a golden period at the moment...

3. Trim - Gave Him An Inch ..... which is most exemplified by this dude. Could pick anything off Soul Food Vol. 3, but I'm going for this one because it's most recently discovered/heavily rewound. Crazy, off-kilter flow, sick electronic beats, a chorus which reminds me of Funkadelic, and a monkey obsession. Nuff said.

4.JME - Food. Off of the Poomplex mix CD. Jon wrote "I think everyone expects grime to by 100% aggy, but I really like the more reflective tunes " This is just a funny, catchy, little slice of life. Makes me larf.

5. Pablo Picasso - Modern Lovers. First heard on the soundtrack of "Repo Man" a million years ago. Punk brillance.

6. Jerico - The Ethiopians. Part of a large haul buying represses in Sounds of the Universe last week from possibly my favorite reggae/rocksteady group.

7. Roland Alphonso - Four Corners. From the same spend up. I could listen to Alphonso play sax all day. Lovely stuff.
