Today was…odd. We had a lot of strange calls to the department, enough that I actually checked to see if it was a full moon today (it isn’t - that’s Monday). It was also a ghost town in the office, which IS typical of Friday, with just myself and one other admin in the place for most of the day. A high wind is blasting the glass doors, which are making a ghostly “whooOOOOoo” sound throughout the building. Spooky!
I’ve been sharing old photos with my cousins, and my one relative who is SUPER into the family ancestry stories showed me a tidbit from the Salem Witch Trials website. Apparently, we’re related to a famous fortune-teller, Samuel Wardwell, who was arrested (along with his wife) for witchcraft towards the end of the Salem Witch Trials, as well as “the Naked Quaker” a girl who was sick of her church fining the family money every time they couldn’t make it through the snow to church meetings, so she showed up one cold day and stripped naked in front of the whole church. Even after they whipped her for it, she wouldn’t repent. There’s a book about her and everything. Yaas, my Quaker Queen! That showed them! Seriously though, of all the descriptions you could use for my extended family, “dull” is not one of them.
Looking forward to the weekend and hoping to get a sizeable amount of stuff done, though I’m still aware that I’m in the healing process and can’t overdo it with the physical activity. I got my extra paycheck this week, and splurging on a good pair of supportive shoes that I’m long overdue for, too. And a massage! Oh god yes, I need a massage. I bought two new books as well, one that came highly recommended by a friend, and one written by a very talented (other) friend overseas. Don’t know how I’m going to find the time to read all of them, but I’ll have a hell of a fun time trying.
Hope you all have good things planned ahead this weekend. Bye for now!
