I'm still around, still alive and not posting very much. I feel like I really should start again, and not just post pictures of Alex (as amazingly cute as he is). However, I find that LJ has some issues when I want to log in. Oh well, we'll see.
I still have letters to write from 9 months ago. I still have Thank You cards to send out from this summer. My mother is planning on coming to Korea twice in the next six months because she misses her grandson so much. This is the best time to really spend with him since he's changing so much. So Alex update:
He is 6 1/2 months old. He is crawling. He can pull himself to a standing position from the sitting position. He can walk a little if he's holding onto something. He doesn't talk yet, and is not very vocal at all. Thankfully, this means he also does not cry very much unless he's very crabby and tired.
At 3 months he was sleeping through the night, like 9pm-6am. Since we flew back to Korea, he hasn't been sleeping through the night, in fact he wakes up 2-3 times a night waking me at 12am, 2pm, 4:30am and then usually awake for the day around 5:30-6:30am. Not fun since I'm back at work, and working a second job editing science papers for non-native speakers. Let me tell you that I need ALL of my brain cells to work on these. It requires so much concentration that if I'm not well rested, I can't work on them.
We've been in the new apt for 6 weeks now and it's great. We're so much closer to everything and I love it. We've been dumpster diving some furniture. Our neighbors throw out decent stuff. Hey it's free, if we don't like it, we'll just throw it back out. Oh, we don't have a bed. We're sleeping on the floor using traditional Korean bedding which involves mats. We've doubled up on ours since I wanted more padding and I've accustomed my body to sleeping on the floor on a much harder surface. Alex sleeps on his own mat next to us. He moves around a lot in his sleep and dislikes the crib immensely.
Back to cross stitching, but mostly evenings after I'm done editing for the day and after Alex is asleep. Taking a break from reading for a few weeks after binging. I'm really excited that I can check out Kindle books for my iPad through Hennepin Country (my library is still valid). I like being able to support my library.
