the semester has started
I teach 2 hour classes once a week, 8 sections of them. This first week I teach for about 45 minutes to and hour and let them go. Why? Because not a single student has the book and classes shift so much from week one to two that we don't even get attendance sheets until next week. the last day to add/drop is on Friday so it's possible that half of my students will change classes on me. 45 minutes is actually a little long compared to some of my co-workers who tend to go in for about 20 minutes on the first day, but I require my students to participate on the first day.
I'm also already exhausted after one day. Last night I feel asleep before 8 and had a nap before waking up and doing the dishes and going back to bed by 10:30pm.
