TVU Challenge 2-11: Too much of a good thing can be very bad (G)

No money, spoilers, beta or anything much

“They could be like sisters, twins even!” Chloe Frazer remarked to Guru Sona over their card game. She pointed across the holding cell to where Beth Williams and Velvet Road were sat side by side on the long bench running down the whole length of the stark room. Sona twisted round to see. She shrugged noncommittally and returned her attention to the card game.

“Double or nothing,” the Guru challenged Chloe.

“Hustler,” Chloe accused with a derisive snort.

“Takes one to know one.”

“Don’t be ridiculous!” Beth Williams loudly protested Chloe’s assertion with. “She’s much older than me…  And those tats…. Ugh!” Beth turned her head away in disgust.

“Yeah, but Velvet’s got nicer hair,” Liz Fontaine snarked in an aside to Vala Mal Doran. They were standing by the cell door, Liz watching Vala as she checked out the lock.

Beth was even more offended by Liz’s remark, although Velvet just sat there, smirking and filing her nails.

“I’ll have you know, I killed…” Beth announced.

“An old man,” Aeryn Sun interrupted, taking off her flight helmet and shaking the cobwebs of unconsciousness out of her head. “Are we supposed to be impressed?” The glare she gave  the younger woman could have destroyed planets.

Beth seemed to be affronted for a moment. She harrumphed and almost squared up to the woman in the flight suit, but the air of steely-eyed menace radiating off of Aeryn persuaded Beth to let it drop.

“So, what are you in for?” Liz asked Vala, bored now with bating Beth.

“Doesn’t really matter,” Vala winked and tossed her hair. “I’m planning on breaking out of here before…” Vala leapt away from the door, whistling at the ceiling, trying and failing to look innocent.

Suddenly the door swung open and a prim looking young woman walked in. She was dressed in a dark business suit with big collars. She had big, blue-grey eyes and bigger long, dark brown hair. The door clanged shut behind her before she finished putting her expensive leather briefcase down on the cell’s single table. Without bothering to look around her she opened her brightly painted lips.

“Good evening ladies. My name is Angela Kostapas. I’m a lawyer. The court has assigned me to your cases. Who wants to go first?” She cast hard-bitten eyes around the cell and a frown of confusion fell across her striking features. “Ummm…  I knew I had a bad side, but this is ridiculous!”

The end.
