Silence was what drifted even from beyond the doors leading to the Sun room, a silence that may have been eerie to those who had the essence to be gripped by such a primal

The hall was completely empty. Sora didn't even hear any whispers or shuffling, which made him wonder if they were the first group to make it through. If that was the case, then it might be for the best. They might even have a chance of taking down the brainwashed patient quickly so that they could at least make a small pocket of time where other groups could get through the Sun Room unhindered.
They could even shoot for the basement if they got really lucky, but Sora wasn't going to bet on anything like that. Instead, he did his best to focus on one thing at a time -- and for now, they just needed to get into the Sun Room.
The doors were already wide open for them to look inside, but Sora got the feeling that they were perpetually that way. He peered in, seeing nothing but darkness and hearing nothing but silence. "Looks like the coast is clear... for now." But chances were that the second they stepped in, something was going to pop out. At least they were all ready for it.

Her shoulders were still tense, but for a different reason now; while she wasn't precisely smiling, there was an eagerness in her eyes that hadn't been there before.
She bounced, once, on the soles of her feet. "Let's go."

Freaking laugh riot.
He followed quietly, nodding as they continued on. He wasn't much for words, but it didn't mean he didn't pay attention, drinking in the details, monitoring their area for noises or flickers of light, movement in the darkness, still, nothing yet. He continued on, pressing the familiar doors open.

The farther Kiba ran down the long corridor, the quieter things became. The strobbing light from passing flashlights faded into the distance, and it wasn’t long before Kiba found himself entirely alone. Not that it bothered him particularly, though the silence almost rang hollow to his ears, hearing only his footsteps as he moved, now without any usable chakra to eliminate the noise. Now that he thought of it, the hall itself being completely empty was a bit odd, as this hallway tended to be well-traveled as far as he knew. But other than that, he gave no thought to it. He hesitated only when he passed the spot where he had fought the spider the previous night, lips curling into a wide, satisfied smirk as he continued down the familiar corridor, past the Sun Room and beyond.

There were few others in this part of the institute yet, and as they walked by, Kratos caught a glimpse thanks to Ishida's flashlight of a familiar head of spiky brown hair in the distance--or rather, two of them. It was safe to assume that one of them was Sora, though, which was good: their young leader had not had the bad luck of being hampered so early in the night.
He kept his eyes on the wall to their right, searching for the door to the entry room. Over two weeks ago, he, Momo, and Signum had come this way intending to make their way out, only to be set upon by a monstrous man-monster that had proved utterly impassable. No stories of that same monster had emerged since then, but they would still need to be careful...
"There should be a door somewhere on our right; keep an eye out."

For the time being, it seemed they and Sora-san's group were walking in the same direction. He hadn't trained the light on the other boy, but in sweeping the hallway, had caught him briefly.
To the alert, Uryuu nodded. "There look to be a few doors on the right. Which one?"

Or not, because in the distance he spied with his little eye one more left turn than he counted on, so had to stop to try and remember whether they both led to the greenhouse. Swiveling a bit, he sought out what was the entrance to the lounge. Was anyone in there right now? Unless someone was throwing a party, monsters-not-invited, Masaomi didn't think he'd want to spend any spare time in a room the nurses regularly left to them anyway, except to go to the cafeteria and courtyard beyond it.
Other than those, he was pretty sure he hadn't been in any of the rooms further down the hall. Parts were closed off, and the doctor's offices weren't rooms he was interested in - if they couldn't even get his name right, there couldn't be much use in raiding their files. Hmm... maybe he'd explore upstairs instead. Directing his flashlight at the nearest door, which he knew was to one of the lobbies (first? second?), Masaomi approached. Slowly. Ohhh sooo slowly.
... This was it. He could feel it. This was the scene he refused to get ( ... )

And as if Landel had timed it himself, there was the static of the intercom switching on as they headed further down the hall. This time, Kirk was inclined to ignore it and keep walking as sort of implied flipping off, not that he thought the Head Doctor was specifically watching his every move with the intensity of spurned admirer. Well, mostly not.
But he slowed when the heavy breathing came through, and stopped outright when he heard her name. Jill. "That's..." He glanced back at Uhura. How to even begin to explain all the stuff with the radio, when she'd only been briefed on the bare basics of the night shift? "Jill, she's with the rebels who oppose Landel, on the outside... Spock met one of them once."
Kirk paused to listen, jaw tightening with every soft sound of pain from the erstwhile Miss Radio. (If that was her. Had it been her voice he'd heard, chanting at the end of the night...?) He expected the intercom to cut out after a thirty seconds of this vagueness, as it usually did, but the announcement stretched ( ... )

"We need to-" 'help them' was the rest of that statement, but it was cut off when Landel kept going. Well, that was just uncanny and unnerving. It was like a line out of some kind of anti-Starfleet campaign. Those were easily ignored - she clearly always had complete faith that the Federation did right by whomever asked for their assistance (or didn't ask) - and she tried to think that this rant of bitter disapproval was no different. Uhura shook her head when Kirk looked at her, maybe a little for herself as well as him. They would be fine ( ... )
