Goku made a strange noise of confusion when he heard this mysterious voice talking to him. It reminded him of last night when Marc had been talking to him from some unknown corner of the kitchen. He knew, however, that this wasn't Marc. The voices were different, but it was still strange. Standing up on his bed, the monkey boy began pacing the thin

Kurt jerked up in bed, having only caught the tail-end of that last announcement. How long had he been asleep? He seemed to recall coming back after lunch and then...
Oh God, had his roommate seen the transformation? Was he coming back with help to kill the monster?
No, no he had to calm down. If his roommate freaked out, he would have woken up, would have heard it. He put a hand on his chest and breathed, pushing down the oncoming panic-attack. He had to get out of the room, though. It wasn't that he felt as though the walls were closing in, but... the flickering wasn't doing him any favors.
He didn't know where he was going (Logan hadn't contacted him about any missions or plans), but when he saw the (by now) familiar black uniform with the red ensignia across the chest, he knew he had to go somewhere. Help somebody. He wasn't the prettiest thing in the building, but he was gifted, talented. He could help someone.
He pulled on his uniform quickly, pulled the sheet off his bed and wrapped himself in it, and started out.

He had faked being sick after breakfast to get out of the other daily activities, which hadn't been very hard since he'd gotten no sleep the night before. Now, feeling refreshed and energized, he pocketed the torch, a "pen" and tucked the leaflet under his arm. Sakura had told him he'd be able to accompany her tonight and the best way to obtain and hold onto information was to record it.
He was in such a rush to leave, he dashed into what he thought was a near-empty hallway and bumped hard into a cloaked figure. Wide-eyed and catching the leaflet before it fell to the ground, he quickly regained his balance and uttered an apology.
"Oh! Sorry about that... sometimes my feet get ahead of themselves."

First stop was to check in on the guy from breakfast. Even if she didn't trust him, she'd told him he could tag along for the night. As long as he didn't slow her down. That way she could avoid Shikamaru's lecturing, get what she wanted done, and maybe even make it through more than a few halls without falling asleep and waking up the next morning having accomplished nothing.
It hadn't taken her long to memorize the maps, even if she kept some copies in her journal, so it was simple to find and locate Ranulf's room and dash over there. With any luck, he'd be ready to go.
Only he wasn't. He was talking to someone in a sheet. A sheet? Really? Her fingers drummed at her sides. So much for finding someone who wasn't going to slow her down. This reeked of idiotic juvenile antics. All she needed was for Naruto to show up in one of his moronic naked jutsus sliding down a stripper pole and her night would be complete.
She crossed her arms, barely holding back a sigh. Bedsheets were well and fine to bring along, but only if they were for makeshift bandages, or for carrying things. Not for playing dress up. "I hope you two don't think this is some kind of game. Are you and your friend ready to go?"

"Ha-hang on a second!" Kurt shrunk further into his sheet, crouching lower to hide his legs. "This guy just bumped into me, we're not friends or playing some kind of game or anything!" He looked back and forth between the girl and the guy, feeling the panic attack returning.
"But mistakes happen," he said, laughing nervously and shrugging. "I won't hold you guys up anymo--ah!" His shrug had shrugged the sheet down around his elbows. He scrambled to get it back up over his head.

The "cloak" reminded him of the cloaks the laguz usually wore in order to disguise themselves in towns from prejudice beorc. That fact paired with how nervous the person's voice was caused Ranulf to suspect they were hiding something and it was quickly confirmed when the sheet fell around the guy's midsection. Dark blue skin and a flash of yellow eyes... the sight did surprise him, but he kept it hidden. Ranulf knew what it was like to have to hide in a world where you were different.
He didn't know why he did what he did next. Maybe it was sympathy? Most likely. It happened regardless.
"No... we are friends. He's joking..."
Ranulf laughed a bit, doubting someone as sharp as Sakura would buy that but still playing along with it anyway.
"Sakura, would it be ok if he joined us?"
He turned to the cloaked figure giving him a smile.
"You could be of help to us... strength in numbers and all that."

"If he's going to join us, then he's going to take this seriously," she frowned, swiping at the sheet and giving a hard tug. "I am not going to spend the night babysitting the two of you, got it?"
She gave the new guy an appraising look, not particularly amused, but that had more to do with the ridiculous behavior than anything to do with his appearance. With all the extreme differences between ninja, this was honestly nothing new. "I'm Sakura. Next you give your name, unless you want to be Sheet-Guy for the rest of the night, and then we get going."

But then the guy was saying they were friends and asking if he could go with them, and Kurt felt the panic returning. This was all happening so fast, and despite his best attempts to stave off the two, they didn't seem to be heeding his excuses.
"I don't even know who you are, and I've never seen you before, so thanks but--" He caught Sakura coming at him out of the corner of his eye, felt a hand on his sheet. "Nowait!!"
Why did everyone always have to pull it off? Kon, Peter, Terry, now this Sakura person. He jumped back and crouched low to the floor. His room wasn't far from here, was that a safe enough place? Of course if he disappeared, he couldn't imagine they would know where he went.
But neither of them looked particularly afraid or horrified. Sakura just asked for his name. He looked between them, worrying his lip with a fang.
"It's not Sheet-Guy. I'm... I'm called Nightcrawler."
At least that's what he was called when he looked like he did now. He straightened up from his defensive position, worrying his hands a little. "Nice to meet you. Can I have my sheet back now?"

In any case, Sakura seemed more than annoyed. If his first impression hadn't been adequate at breakfast, this situation wasn't helping him any, especially since Nightcrawler (that's what he said his name was, right?) hadn't gone along with the story. Ranulf had to find a way to fix the predicament quickly before she decided to retract her decision.
He cast a look between the both of them and then pressed his right thumb against his chest.
"Ranulf."
He smiled, rubbing his forehead as he continued.
"It's great getting to know one another, but the opportunity to explore the hallways without an escort isn't a common occurrence."
The laguz stood with a more determined composure, his leaflet tucked tightly under his arm.
"So... now that we've gotten introductions out of the way, I suggest we get moving."
He then looked sideways, inquisitively at Nightcrawler.
"That is... if you're coming with us?"

Sakura was starting to get impatient with this whole dancing around waiting for Nightcrawler to decide if he wanted to come or if he'd rather spent the night huddling in a corner with his sheet. The next broadcast hummed over the radios, only furthering her desire to leave as quickly as possible. Night could end at any moment!
She held the sheet out to the blue, somewhat fuzzy looking guy and waited for him to take it, "if you really need this, you might want to reconsider going out at night. Unless you actually know how to fight, it's pretty dangerous. You might be better off in your room."
It wasn't to be mean or damage his pride, but seriously? If she had to look after the two of them like children, she'd rather there were fewer to watch. People who didn't know what they were doing, especially when things were this dangerous, really shouldn't go out at night!
"I'm heading out. Anyone who wants to come can follow."
