Nightshift 51: Tasty Burger (Doyleton)

[From here.]Whatever the doctor had said, at least one thing was true: it was just like that night Roxas had been traveling with Jim and Chekov; the feeling of suddenly being thrown was the same, and he had to take a few steps forward when they landed to keep his balance ( Read more... )

Punching the ring into the wall seemed like a pretty cool way to go about it! That was the only thought Sora had the time to think before his body was suddenly pitching through some sort of invisible, instantaneous portal -- and then the next thing he knew, his feet had found the ground again and he was stumbling toward a food counter ( ... )

Well, the red stone was definitely gone, without even shards of the red gem left over. At least he'd heard about the message about the blood - bits of it, and he'd gotten the jist - but they could worry about that later. Who knows? Maybe a new gem would be there tomorrow. Roxas had noticed with the gray slacks that was the Landel uniform that they always seemed to be repaired when he woke up. No loose stitches, no tears, no dirt. Maybe the ring would... regenerate itself or something ( ... )

It had been sort of silly for him to turn to Roxas for direction when he'd been here so much longer, hadn't it? Sora shrugged his shoulders to himself as he looked around the fast food joint once more, as if searching for a sign. After all, this was only the second time he'd been here at night, and the first time around he'd been confined to one building ( ... )

Roxas cocked his head in curiosity, raising his eyebrows at the list. Park, toy store - he knew those. "What's a spa?" Whatever it was, Sora didn't seem particularly thrilled about that option, so maybe it was as inconsequential as a park and a toy store would be. Otherwise, Roxas was sure he would've put more emphasis on that choice ( ... )

Even with Roxas asking about it, Sora had to admit that he wasn't quite sure what a spa was. He'd been in there twice now, but it was all kind of confusing. "Well, there's a fountain there, but... I think you get massages and stuff?" It sounded pretty luxurious, he had to admit, which seemed kind of strange for such a small town. He'd never seen anything about massages in the shops on Destiny Islands.

It wasn't that Sora didn't know the area, but he just hadn't poked his head into every single store or anything. There was usually something that distracted him, or he went to the park or somewhere with someone in particular. He ended up looking for people more than for places when he went on the field trip, which seemed to have been a bad idea in retrospect ( ... )
