A quick pan with his flashlight revealed no dangers, but considering last night's ambush, Kirk kept his ears and eyes on alert, and glanced at Bones before moving for the exit to the rec field. The doctor followed without even interrupting his explanation, which somehow managed to both last the entire distance there and not impart a single piece of a new information. Well, unless you counted Bones appreciating transporter technology, that was... admittedly pretty new - but Kirk sure as hell didn't, even if a smile was threatening to crack his exasperated expression.
God, they were so alike.
"Very glad, doctor, but I was actually talking about your short-lived return to a starship," Kirk answered mildly. He reached out for the door as they approached, wincing slightly as he pushed it open. He'd fractured the bones in his hand before, and he was fairly certain this wasn't as bad, but that didn't make the bruising hurt any less. Or any less stupid or avoidable, at that, but he was trying not to focus on that part. "This had better not dump us into a giant maze again. Come on."
