Night 49: M71-M80 Hallway
This time for sure, Rocky. He was going over the wall and no monsters or nurses were going to get in his way. He'd even take their spacey jacket with him to keep him warm as a trophy, no shame in stealing form the enemy.
Carter paused at the door, thoughtful. He'd gotten to all the trouble of getting ZEX that book, but if he left he'd never be able to give it to him. And the nurses certainly wouldn't, it was contraband and they'd confiscate it. What to do...
Oh! Of course. He'd go write a message on that bulletin board, in special code the way everyone did here to fool the nurses. And ZEX would find it the next morning and know to search his room for the book. Oh, how clever Carter was, it nearly made him feel smart.
He wondered if he'd see that strange kid again. He knew the cat was all right, he'd seen it dart across his path back in Doyleton--too fast to pet, but he could tell it was doing fine.
