On any other normal day the alarm would have gone off at its usual time, at which point Minako would have slapped it and gone back to sleep until either Artemis dragged her out of bed or her mother came to her door and yelled at her to get up. It was a set routine that had managed to persist for years now, which was why it was immediately obvious just from the quality of the light hitting her closed eyelids that something was different. Had she somehow managed to sleep so late that the sun was coming right through her window? The fact that Artemis was no longer a warm presence by her feet as he had been when she fell asleep seemed to confirm that, but -- well, it didn't quite seem like sunlight ( ... )

"Annabel?" The startled exclamation escaped her before Minako could stop it, and she lifted a hand to point at herself. "I'm Minako. Aino Minako. I think you have the wrong person here for...for whatever this place is. I don't need lunch, I need to go home. I have to fi--er, take a math test. A big math test. Like, half my grade!"

The nurse only sighed, expression warring between sympathetic and impatient, and shook her head. "No, Annabel. You're not. You've been very ill, and your family sent you here to get better. Now come along, dear, before the others eat all the sandwiches, hmm?"

As she stepped to one side, gesturing for Minako to precede her out the door, the two orderlies straightened a little and eyed the girl with expressions that rather clearly told her that she would be moving along whether she wanted to or not. They didn't seem to have any kind of real hostile intent, though; it was the sort of attitude one might display to a small child who simply didn't want to obey and sometimes had to be forced.
