[from here]The cold storage lived up to its name. Taura shivered, and quickly searched the room. She grabbed a carton of milk -- the kind that had never been freeze-dried

Zack voiced a thought that made it abundantly clear that he hadn't been here as long as Sasuke and Aidou, but as the days passed Sasuke was beginning to realise that increasingly few of the patients had. It was a viable concern, which made it all the more frustrating that their confinement made it impractical to test it -- by the time any poison or limiting agent had been cleared from the body by starvation, using chakra would be too taxing for it to be useful.
"If it is poisoned, it's too slow-acting to be of immediate concern," he said shortly, noting the cool air that breathed out of the large refrigerator. They were close, but someone else was here already --
But apparently that someone was also interested in the food. All the better; crowding was (more space to think when Sasuke wanted nothing but the narrow focus of the mission) useless in this place.
Sasuke paused a few steps short of the vampire -- avoiding the possibility of stepping on the hidden entrance itself -- when Aidou stopped to show Zack the trapdoor; once the distinct sound of tile lifting away had ended, he started down.
While Zack had already determined on his own that he didn't need to concern himself too much with possible poison in the food, it was always nice to hear it confirmed once again by two people who'd been around for a while. Then again, his original comment had been a joke more than anything else, but he wasn't really playing to the right crowd with that, was he?
He felt goosebumps rise up on his skin as they entered what looked like a place for storing food, but managed to hold back a shiver. Zack had trekked through snowy climates with his arms bare -- he could deal with a slight temperature change, so long as they didn't spend too much time in here.
And if they did? He'd just do squats to get his body temperature up!
Following after Aidou, Zack took note of the discolored tile. Sneaky, sneaky... But he had been lucky enough to run into people who had already figured this all out. It was kind of a shame, since Zack would have liked the thrill of piecing things together on his own, but he knew this was for the best. Right now, he needed to focus on getting out of here sooner rather than later, since it wasn't just his neck that was on the line. He hoped that Aerith and Cloud were staying safe.
Once the two boys had gone down, Zack didn't hesitate to follow after them.
