[from here]The cold storage lived up to its name. Taura shivered, and quickly searched the room. She grabbed a carton of milk -- the kind that had never been freeze-dried

Having the walk-in fridge already broken into meant they wouldn’t have to consume time doing it themselves, and when the female ducked out, Aidou ducked in and was promptly embraced by the chilled temperature.
He’d already mentioned where the hidden entrance was, but for Zack’s benefit he said, “Here,” as he zeroed in on the area of floor in question and squatted down next to it. The door didn’t appear to have been tampered with already; the set of the tile was perfectly normal for people who weren’t looking for it.
But Aidou was, and he didn’t hesitate to begin pulling up the edges of the tile, finally lifting it out of the way to reveal the staircase underneath.
Not bad. They’d gotten this far already without complication…
Zack voiced a thought that made it abundantly clear that he hadn't been here as long as Sasuke and Aidou, but as the days passed Sasuke was beginning to realise that increasingly few of the patients had. It was a viable concern, which made it all the more frustrating that their confinement made it impractical to test it -- by the time any poison or limiting agent had been cleared from the body by starvation, using chakra would be too taxing for it to be useful

While Zack had already determined on his own that he didn't need to concern himself too much with possible poison in the food, it was always nice to hear it confirmed once again by two people who'd been around for a while. Then again, his original comment had been a joke more than anything else, but he wasn't really playing to the right crowd with that, was he?
He felt goosebumps rise up on his skin as they entered what looked like a place for storing food, but managed to hold back a shiver. Zack had trekked through snowy climates with his arms bare -- he could deal with a slight temperature change, so long as they didn't spend too much time in here.
And if they did? He'd just do squats to get his body temperature up!
Following after Aidou, Zack took note of the discolored tile. Sneaky, sneaky... But he had been lucky enough to run into people who had already figured this all out. It was kind of a shame, since Zack would have liked the thrill of piecing things together on his own, but he knew this was for the best. Right now, he

Logan held the door and waited again for Scott to get through. The kids who'd gone down before had left the quote-unquote door open; that was smart, in case they needed to come running back out. He still hadn't seen any of those monsters Pete had mentioned, and there was no more likely hiding place for them than the basement.
"Think you can handle a staircase?" he asked. If not, well, the kitchen was a nice, safe place for an injured kid to hang out by himself for a little while.
Scott followed after Logan, feeling strung somewhere between giddiness and trepidation. On the one hand, he was excited to be heading into the heart of some interesting secrets and possible action with Wolverine. On the other hand, he was more than a little worried about just how deep or dark the secrets would get, and how intense the action might be. He wasn't exactly in the mood to get maimed beyond recognition after having just made some progress healing. In the end, he trusted Logan enough to cover him in the face of danger, but still reserved the right to go running back up the stairs with his tail between his legs at any time.
Scott grinned after his moment of hesitation. "I was born to handle staircases." A short pause. "With a crutch." A reassuring, enthusiastic thumbs up. "Let's do this thing!"
"Yeah, you won't be sayin' that when we run into Frankenstein down there." It came out a little more good-humored than he'd thought it would. Kid was kind of like Pete without the superpowers, and Pete tended to have that effect on people. Right before all the jokes got annoying.
Scott let himself slump down on the cold ground once he was back up in the freezer. If he was going to be cooling his heels (literally), he was at least going to take the opportunity to sit and rest. "'kay, but don't do anything awesome down there I'd hate to miss out on!" he told Logan, knowing full well how much good that advice was probably going to be. Wolverine was always awesome.
Inside the cold storage room, Teresa immediately went to the trap door in the corner as she didn't sense any enemies within the small room. Breath producing small puffs, she hauled the door open and nodded.
"The room below is very large, very different from the rest of this place. It is open but has fountains which create various blind spots."
The feel of the icy air hitting his skin, settling heavily on the layers of clothing he usually wore anyway, was an unpleasant one. It was strange how cold had a way of sinking in, seeping through however many layers of clothes a person put on, to suck the heat from their skin. If Okita had been paying full attention to the task at hand, perhaps he could have better prepared for it. However, with Homura stalking off toward Yomi and Taura and the faint sounds of his tirade filtering in as Teresa led the way forward, Okita's mind couldn't help but remain behind with them. The anger driving Homura forward was decidedly human, but Okita had to wonder just how much of it was due to his frustration and how much due to his desperation to get something done before...
A small cough hit him harder than he expected and Okita nodded as he focused now on Teresa's report. Blind spots meant there were places for things to hide - and also places to hide should anything come at them. "Understood," he said, tapping his chest slightly to quiet
