Night 48: West Wing, North Hall 1-A

[Skipping one room from here]

Ugh. The prosecutor could not get out of the patient block hallway fast enough. He could practically still taste the putrid tobacco from there. For once, he was thankful that he was wearing the hideous coat over his precious garments. But if one single fume of that blasted cigarette smoke filling the previous ( Read more... )

He'd met his eyes right before the captain dropped the matter. Jim obviously didn't quite believe that he was fine, but McCoy didn't have any answers to give him in the meantime. And worrying about it right now wasn't going to do anyone any good. He had his orders.

And Jim was off, a man with a mission, just like his captain took off on sickbay days ago, except he'd had time for some sass before he did so, with that crack about Spock and then his age. McCoy grumbled a little as he closed the kit with a snap.

The doctor began walking, the pace a brisk one. He came out into another hallway. It was downright eerie seeing a hospital like this: dimly lit, flickering in and out at times, and not a sign of staff around. He could hear the faint sounds of movement in the halls nearby, but there wasn't another soul in this hallway.

McCoy tightened his grip on the first aid kit's handles and picked up the pace.

[From here.]As much as Peter tried to tell himself that Nathan was better off brainwashed than dead, it was harder to believe when it meant that he was once again stuck by himself -- with Sylar. There were friends he'd made here, true, but a lot of them had also disappeared. First Brooklyn, now Roland, and how many other people who he'd spoken to briefly were now gone? The whole thing was almost too depressing to even acknowledge, but seeing Nathan like that just got his mind on it again ( ... )

Gosh, but this place was big. Carter hoped he was going the right way, all the pale walls looked the same in the dark. It was much easier in Stalag 13, you just had to aim for the barbed wire.

Maybe he should have taken that map.

Even though Guy knew that he would have to go this way regardless of their search for Asch, it did still rub him the wrong way that they had to go out of their way to get a hold of him. Asch should have been better about keeping an eye on the bulletin, but the God-General was usually too busy with whatever he considered "more important" to bother caring about inconveniencing others.

The worst thing was that Luke let him get away with it. He knew that his friend was probably worried, but Guy didn't know how founded it was. While it was true that people could disappear at the drop of a hat in this place, Asch also had the habit of just failing to keep in contact with anyone.

Not that he expected Asch to keep up with him, but with Luke it was a different story, especially when they had a psychic link that he was fairly certain still worked even here.

Guy was just going to frustrate himself if he kept thinking about Asch, though, and so he just sighed to himself and continued down the hall.

And there was still barely anyone around. As Harvey moved along, he found that his mind was still stuck on what had happened to Lunge. It wasn't that he felt guilty, of course, but he was curious about what the institute would want to do with a man like him. Harvey didn't know much about Lunge except that he was a detective who apparently came from Germany, that he barely spoke, and that he might be called paranoid. Chances were that if the man was around the following night, he wouldn't be willing to talk about what had been done to him.

Which meant that Harvey was going to be stuck wondering. Unless he got the news from Jones. It sounded like the two were friendly, so Lunge might tell him. Harvey hadn't had much exposure to someone who'd actually been taken for something like this, so he couldn't help but be interested ( ... )
