Night 47: Main Hallway, 1-West

Feb 10, 2010 12:43

( from here. )There was the stairwell. Kairi couldn't help but smile to herself as she rounded the corner and spotted the familiar hallway, still shrouded in darkness like she remembered it. She could see down the hallway and slightly into the Sun Room from where she was standing, and she lowered her flashlight, not wanting whatever it was that ( Read more... )

When Teresa passed by, Hime merely met the woman's greeting with a nod of her own, along with a slim, knowing smile. Well, perhaps they'd meet again tonight, perhaps not. The princess's attention went back to looking for those she was waiting for. It wasn't long before the first of two showed up.

"Kagura," she greeted the girl, also gracing her with a thin smile. If the girl was intent on scanning the area with her light, then Hime was content to turn hers off for the moment. "Hopefully our last member won't keep us waiting long."

As much as she would like to just leave any stragglers behind, going with only Kagura and herself at the moment defeated the purpose of arranging this expedition. If only Flandre was here, she wouldn't have to worry about having enough muscle on her side. And Hiro as well.

Perhaps she should look into creating a new blood warrior while she was here. The prospect seemed somewhat cruel though, considering his fate should they succeed and everyone returned to their home worlds. Not to mention the fact that, despite the dangers of night, she rarely heard of patients dying. Just disappearing.

There. Right on time. And by the looks of the few patients scattered around the all, he hadn't been too late getting here, either.

But what he hadn't been expecting was to find himself looking at not just Hime, but another girl who was even smaller and even younger looking than she was. She was the other part of the team? Not that he doubted Hime's judgment, but, well... actually, he did. No wonder he was going to be filling the part of resident bulldozer tonight, neither of 'em looked like they could lift so much as a paperweight between them. And even if you could never tell with the people here what kind of powers they had...

Hmm. Too late to back out now. He'd just have to try and not be too obviously cynical, even if tact had never been his bag. Depth Charge swung the crowbar in his hand back up over his shoulder and approached the two of them with a grim nod. "You both ready?"

"Ready," Kagura replied, while sizing up who she presumed was their new ally. Depth Charge was a muscular man with a pale complexion and tousled hair. He looked like he meant business, especially with that menacing-looking crowbar. Somehow, he reminded her of Iwahata-san.

"I'm Kagura. And you're Depth Charge?" Considering the circumstances, it should have been obvious, but Kagura just wanted to make sure, since this was her first time meeting the man in person.

Hime smiled as Depth Charge approached. The man was both prompt and armed. How convenient. In fact, she was a little jealous of that crowbar; baseball bats were fine, but the idea of sinking the sharp point of a crowbar in some attacking fiend's skull was much more appealing.

"Of course," she replied to his question. She glanced around the hallway, which was starting to fill up. "If you don't know already, the entrance to the basement is hidden in the walk-in refrigerator of the kitchen that prepares our meals. This means going through the Sun Room, so be on your guards."

Hime hadn't been there since her first night here, but it seemed the battle she'd witnessed then was not an isolated incident. It was likely something would be waiting for them there this night as well. This in mind, Hime didn't move to leave quite yet; better to let other patients go first and engage whatever monster awaited.

"Any questions before we get going?" she asked, looking between the two. She noted Teresa leaving with some man, presumably who she was working with for her first task of the night.

Kagura. Right. "Uh-huh. That's me." Depth Charge nodded, sizing her up one last time before forcing himself to decide that she was one of those hidden power types. Hime, too, even though he could vouch for her determination. If not, it looked like he was going to do a lot of defending tonight.

Still. It was irritating that the basement had been through the kitchen all this time. He could count the number of times he'd visited the Sun Room at night on one hand; if he'd known there was actually something worth looking at through there...

"None. I'm ready to move whenever you two are." And hopefully, that would be as soon as possible. They could swap personal details when they'd made it, since, as far as he could see, this was going to one of those 'learn while you live' opportunities- think about it too much and you were liable to end up without a head to think with. Now there was something for the Scarecrow to think about.

"Alright," Kagura replied. She had never been to the Sun Room at night, but she had heard it was a popular area for fighting. Kagura unconsciously tightened her grip on the bat. "Me neither. I'm ready to go."

Well, with that settled, the time for stalling was over. They'd be moving quickly from here - hopefully. If there was trouble in the Sun Room, they could end up quite delayed.

"Let's get going," she agreed with a nod, turning imperiously and striding off down the hall in the expectation that they would follow. Well, if they didn't, then this was a waste of all their time.
