Her dress was hanging neatly in the closet--it looked as though it had been pressed--and the stockings didn't even have a snag in them. Why send her things to the cleaners; why even give them to her in the first place? Meche couldn't figure out their angle ( ... )

She had it all planned out.

The moment those lights went out, Bella was up and moving quickly out the door, her flashlight in her right hand, her maps in the other. She had to get to the second floor as quickly as she could and get out so she could head towards Edward's room before he got too angry. The way she saw it, maybe if it looked like she was heading towards his room after all he wouldn't be that angry ...

Who was she kidding.

Either way, she had to get to the top floor before Edward caught her scent and ended up finding her and dragging her back to her room.

The day had ended rather peacefully, as far as Tsubaki was concerned. She’d been careful to eat well and had gotten some time to exercise in the sun, so she was as ready as she could be for nightshift. Whatever was going to happen. And it was hard to believe the Head Doctor didn’t have something else up his sleeve, the way he was carrying on. She got the chills whenever he mentioned his ‘dead’ acquaintance ( ... )
