Night 44: West Wing, Hall 2-A

[from here]Sheena moved quickly down the hall, hoping that whatever was back in the previous hall didn't follow her. Still, she had to keep tabs on the state of her leg. It was healed, yes, but she could still feel the injury deep in the muscle tissue. Perhaps she would not run into another monster anytime soon ( Read more... )

[From here.]

Sora stumbled out into the hallway, feeling as if he'd just made it out of some sort of death trap. It felt like he could breathe better now, trace bits of light were back (or it at least didn't feel like his night vision was even worse than usual), and there was no ominous feeling clinging to him anymore.

Oh, and his flashlight worked. Good thing, since he didn't exactly have a ton of batteries laying around.

The only problem was the strands of her he'd yanked along with him. He could definitely tell that that was what it was now, and he frowned in slight disgust (where had this stuff come from?) as he started to pick it off of him.

He held his breath as he waited for Tsubaki and Hokuto to make it through after him. If they weren't able to, then he was just going to have to go back and get them.

It looks like it’s working… What they cut down didn’t immediately regenerate, and that gave her hope. As she called her blade back, she turned to slash at more around her ( ... )

"I'm never going to look at hair in the drain the same way again," Hokuto said, shuddering. That had definitely been frightening, but... it'd also been pretty gross.

When she'd managed to relax the slightest bit, she asked Tsubaki, "How did you do that? Actually... what did you do?" She recognized a scythe when she saw one, but keeping it in her hair? Or,less likely, forming it out of her hair? That was a new one even on her.

Much to the boy's relief, both of his teammates managed to follow after him, if a bit winded and disconcerted (judging from the looks on their faces). Sora didn't know if they were out of the woods for sure, so he was eager to keep moving, but he knew that everyone needed a second or two to catch their breath.

Besides, there was the matter of what Tsubaki had done back there that they needed to address, and Sora was glad when Hokuto took the initiative in asking the other girl about it. He nodded to her to indicate that he was all right before sending her a questioning glance of his own.

He had to admit, he was really curious, and he did his best to hide that as he waited for her answer. He knew now wasn't really the best time to be asking her about what she could do, but it would be pretty weird to just leave that hanging, right?

It seemed they were okay for now, both from the threat they’d just managed to escape, and from sustaining any new injuries, for the most part. She reassured herself by glancing over her two companions as she moved closer--and farther away from what lay behind them, though Tsubaki was still tense for another attack ( ... )

"Wow." Hokuto was definitely impressed. "What else do you have in there?" She reached to touch Tsubaki's hair, curious if it would feel different. Not that she had any idea what hair that hid a dimensional pocket would feel like, but that was partly why she was curious.

She also wondered what the girl usually transformed into, but for now she figured she should keep to one question at a time--they did have somewhere to be.

Another person who could apparently summon a weapon out of thin air, huh? Well, that was something else that he and Tsubaki had in common. Sora smiled at the girl, holding his flashlight up so that they could actually see each other in the dark hallway ( ... )

“That’s it,” Tsubaki reassured Hokuto. “It’d take a while to explain, but the short of it is, I’m not completely unarmed.” She wasn’t adverse to the sudden closeness; the other girl’s inquisitiveness was only natural, and she let Hokuto take a look. As far as the topic of demon weapons went, she didn’t have a problem explaining how where her hair ended, chain links began, but there was definitely a better time to talk at length about that. She was still uneasy about their position (how many others had run into that hair-thing, and what did that mean for the people trying to get to the M-U hall?) Sora’s mention of his own abilities, though, was interesting, given that she didn’t know much about either of her friends’ potential skills. “In stressful situations ( ... )

"Is it part of you, or you just have a magic pocket in there?" Hokuto tried not to giggle; she was a little tense, and laughing was one way to release that--probably a bad idea right now, though.

She just nodded, a little too quickly, at the mention of the patio; there was no way she would agree to turn around, or even linger here, without a damn good reason. She trusted Sora, of course, but... "Ready to go if you guys are."

While Sora wouldn't have minded continuing to question Tsubaki about what she could do (as Hokuto seemed eager to do as well), he knew that now wasn't the time for it. They'd gotten the most basic questions out of the way, and he figured he could track her down to talk about it further at some other time -- during the day would be ideal.

The patio, huh? Sora remembered going there before, but he hadn't known that it led into the kitchen. Still, he trusted Tsubaki, and so he didn't hesitate to lead them further down the hall. He knew that he needed to set these paths to memory so that he didn't have to keep turning to others for help with directions. It was kind of embarrassing.

Either way, he was glad to be putting more distance between them and whatever had been trying to trap them. No one seemed to have taken any lasting damage, which he was grateful for. Hopefully he could give Hitsugaya a good report tomorrow!

Reaching the door at the end of the hall, he opened it and led them out.
