Night 43: Sun Room

Aug 29, 2009 19:45

[from here]Finally, the Sun Room. Unlike the hallways, this one actually had some light in it. Specifically, moonlight coming from the big window on the ceiling. It did help to have some light, but the big, dark room washed in moonlight didn't exactly make the place look too inviting ( Read more... )

This place looked a lot weirder at night, but at least it wasn't totally dark like the rest of everywhere. "Well, we can just wai--What in th' heck is that?!"

He probably would have been able to see whatever-that-was coming if he'd been looking in the right direction. Was this one of the monsters, or the brainwashed people? ...Or just some guy in a weird suit? ...It was kind of hard to tell when you came from somewhere where all the monsters talked and brightly colored things coming outta nowhere were pretty much routine.

Loz yelped and jumped out of his seat when the voice whispered into his ear. The Remnant whipped around, seeing some guy in a bright red and blue costume hanging upside down. Loz couldn't help but think the costume looked kinda funny.

The silver haired man turned to Beelzemon, "Think he's one of the brainwashed ones?" He then turned back to the costumed man and raised his hand invitingly, "Wanna play?"

Considering what he did for a living, Sync didn't have to pull forth that much effort to hide his footsteps as he snuck into the room. He bent forward just enough so he stood at about the same height as the furniture nearby, carefully maneuvering away from the fight but keeping his pace slow enough so Dahlia and Anise could keep up.

His hands had long since been tightened into fists, preventing the metal of his gloves to sway and shake and cause any unwanted noise as he moved along.

Dahlia nodded her head and did as told, flashlight turned off and stuffed into her knife bag, hand firmly placed on top of that to stifle any sudden sounds. She kept herself closer to the wall, biting her bottom lip as she eyed the fight.

Was she supposed to be afraid of a man in blue and red spandex? Especially a one-line spewing geek? Please. His little tricks weren't impressing her; she'd seen mops more frightening. She may have looked terrified, but the fact remained that the only reason she was biting her lip was because she was trying not to laugh.

Oh, Landel's. And to think you actually had her working hard last night.

Wow. For once, Sync seemed to be on the same wavelength as her. Was he really trying to act like an innocent kid, though? He sounded just like a soldier for a while there. If Dahlia noticed it, though, she didn't show it.

Anise made a mental note of those metal gloves he was wearing. There was a chance he'd end up using them against her or her friends in the future. She quietly followed the other two into the room and eased the door shut behind them, to keep it from swinging or slamming noisily.

As she followed, Anise kept her head low, though she managed to catch a glimpse of the people who were fighting. She hadn't noticed the man in the brightly colored, tight-fitting bodysuit before, but he definitely stood out now that she could see a little more than just silhouettes. That was the enemy? He looked like some kind of weirdo ( ... )

[ From here. Hi Kabby! We can cure the boredom?]Terry recognized the signs of a struggle when he saw them, particularly around the bulletin. The whole patient population was going to be pretty upset, since it looked like their main method of communication had died pretty violently. Maybe the establishment could take a hint though, and install something a bit more modern instead. Terry couldn't exactly say he was fond of handwriting everything, after all ( ... )

"Ha ha... right..." Superhero. Maybe not now, but where Mr. Rogers was from? It sounded like he was. Which meant he needed an appropriate alias, didn't he? And he liked Nightcrawler--it was accurate, and appropriately intimidating, he thought.

As they moved towards the Sun Room, Kurt walked next to Kitty, catching her eye and mouthing 'Schway?' What the heck did that mean? Oh well, Alex seemed nice enough to lead the way, so Kurt didn't have to play scout tonight. It was a little difficult to scout adequately when he couldn't go on all fours, too.

When they entered the Sun Room, Kurt had to whistle softly. "Looks like we missed quite a party..." The bulletin board especially seemed to have taken a rather large hit. He wondered what would happen to it come morning.

Kurt had been looking at the strange stuff that seemed to be strewn everywhere when Alex called attention to whatever wasn't 'good'. Whatever wasn't 'good', it was probably whatever had caused this mess--the fact that it was still in the room terrified him ( ... )

Superhero? If only, Kitty thought, resisting the urge to sigh. It'd definitely make things a lot easier if more people would think like that. That was probably asking way too much though.

When Kurt caught her eye, she could only give a confused shrug in response. The word 'schway' didn't really sound familiar to her either; his guess was as good as hers in terms of trying to decide what it was supposed to mean.

When they reached the Sun Room, Kitty glanced around the room slowly, breathing a quiet, "Whoa..." as she did so. What was with that weird stuff scattered around? Actually, she wasn't sure she wanted to know. Whatever had left this mess couldn't be good.

Unfortunately... the soft melody, followed up by both Alex and Kurt's comments proved that the something that had left the mess was still there. And it wasn't a something, but a someone.

Oh yeah, this was bad.

"Let's go, then. Move!" Kitty whispered, keeping her eyes on the costumed person. There probably wasn't a point in trying to keep quiet, but it never hurt to be

Ah, a brainwashed patient. Precisely what they needed, and-

...and.

...wha-...

...What have they done to the bulletin board?! Now how was he to harass people? What would he spend his hours doing, if not causing grief to others anonymously? Actually speaking with strangers?! That little gravity defying retch!

Luxord turned back to Xigbar, narrowing his eyes at him from under his hood. "Shoot our friend Magnus here." Only the bravest of souls deserved that name and it took a brave soul indeed to tarnish the most sacred of all things in the asylum.

"Chill," Xigbar whispered, "it'll be back tomorrow. An' look." He quietly pointed across the room, where three brats looked like they were considering their own plan of attack. Against a brainwashed opponent. Who clearly had powers of his own, that would make it a frustrating fight for ground-pounders to deal with.

All in all, and in short, this made Xigbar turn his gaze back to Luxord, grinning with an amused look on his face. It was the same sort of look he gave after they set up a particularly ingenious (and awesome) trap for someone else to fall into. In other words... it was the sort of look that said, "Let's sit back and watch the fireworks."

It'd be a lot more fun to do that than it would be to, say, try to beat the costumed dude like a tambourine. Now, granted, Xigbar was fully planning on taking the guy down with judicious use of firepower at a precise vector, but that'd end the fun pretty quick. Far better to enjoy the show first, then deal with the dude later.

Hmm, that was indeed true. Ah well. X gave a little shrug and took II by the hand, moving just close enough to him to let the dark of his coat shield the other Nobody as he found a spot near the corner of the room behind a nice, not destroyed couch. He knew that look, after all, and knew it meant this was a time to be as sadistic as their heartless selves were able. It would be nice to just sit for a moment and watch this brainwashed patient give these children an education on not to do during nightshift. In the meanwhile...

"How much are you willing to wager the girl does not survive?" Granted, he had nothing to wager with, but it was all in good fun.

"Hm..." Xigbar settled behind the couch, still remaining quiet as he peeked around the couch. Shattered wood, fabric, and nails everywhere, that was going to make an interesting challenge of footing for the people involved. The costumed guy didn't seem like he'd have a challenge at all, but without any exceptional weaponry...

Xigbar gnawed his lip thoughtfully before whispering, "The chick's going to make it out. I'll put half the bottle behind that."

The crash of the furniture echoed through the room as the Bride lead her small band of pissed off assassins into the Sun Room. She almost wished the costumed kid would engage them just so she'd have something to hit other than the two assassins with her. She did not want the spider's attention, though, and the two others that entered in before the assassins was a small blessing among the tension between SubZero and Venom.

After all this they better get the next key, and Lockdown better not be using lube on HK-47.

Keeping an eye on Spiderman, Beatrix silently slipped to the side of the room opposite of his position and made use of the shadows on her way to the cafeteria.

It was really a good thing for the sake of them getting something done that night that Arlene had interceded there. He wasn't prone to striking out in anger, he had more self control than that, but there was a definite and sudden chill to the air that expressed how unhappy he was. At least Arlene wouldn't hold it against him if some sort of murderous vendetta sprung up between the two of them. Well, as long as it didn't get in the way of the mission.

If it wasn't for the fact that they needed to be quiet now, SubZero would've continued talking. As it was he silently and icily reminded himself that they did need three people to get anywhere in the basement. Suddenly the idea of taking a hostage was a lot more appealing. If they did have a third person SubZero wouldn't have to put up with Venom. A dead weight would be preferable to dealing with someone who gave him none of the respect he deserved.

Things were looking up. Not only did they have a man incapable of acting his age, but also a woman incapable of noticing that "bitching" was, in fact, a synonym for "whining" and therefore did not prove her point in the slightest. Hm... He would assume the air growing cold was not just his imagination and was instead a product of SubZero. If the intent was to let him know how displeased he was with being scolded, then congratulations, Venom now regretted not wearing a shirt.

At least Arlene maintained her role as leader despite everything. That was a point in her favor, even if he disagreed with her methods.

He kept himself between the other two, balancing on the balls of his feet to keep the sound at a complete minimum. It looked as if two other individuals had entered and were being none too quiet about their presence, which was in their favor. If they kept this up, they can make it through unseen.
