Day 43: Library (4th Shift)

Beatrix glanced briefly at the bulletin board before she headed into the library. It wasn't as if she had any interests in the book, but there was something about browsing book shelves that gave a person time to think while reducing the odds that someone would bother her

Listening to the announcement, Sam decided that his next course of action should be to check out these future doctor people. He followed some of the other patients- no, prisoners, but his nurse stopped him before he could leave the Sun Room

Sam dropped the book he was holding on the floor and looked the other man. He seemed upset about something or other. Well that was understandable.

"Oh, I don't know..." said Sam. He thought he'd seen some sort of declaration of love on the bulletin board, unless that was more code. "Besides, I'm not reading them. I'm looking for secret messages. I... don't suppose you've ever found any?"

It was worth a shot.

"That's right," said Sam. "I'm Sam, Freelance Police. I'm a Canine-American who mysteriously woke up here in the body of a completely human prisoner." If this Kio character was going to be shocked that he was a dog, or wasn't a dog, or whatever it was this time, it was probably best to get it over with now so they move on to the important stuff.

"Uh... are you okay?" said Sam. As relieved as he was to see someone else who hadn't been fully human, this Kio guy seemed a bit out of it. At least it probably wasn't because of Sam, for once.

Sam nodded "I read all about it on that notice board out there." He indicated in the direction of the Sun Room. The story had seemed to check out. "I've been here a few hours. Is it true the one responsible for all this died last night? I wanted to ask him a few questions."

Sam punched his open palm to indicate what kinds of questions he wanted to ask.

Sam was glad. "I just don't want his zombie boyfriend or whoever to have all the fun." The bulletin board hadn't really been clear on who'd supposedly offed him.

What wouldn't get him very far? Violence? "Now hang on a second. Max and I used to solve cases by hitting stuff all the time." That hadn't happened for a while, but Sam still considered it a viable strategy. "And don't all the nurses go away at night?"
