Dayshift 43: Waiting Room / Lobby 1 [4th Shift]

It'd been nice to talk with Subaru, if only to see that the young man was faring a little better than before.  He seemed to have the worst luck and unfortunately, there wasn't always someone there to protect those that needed it the most.  As he passed the Sun Room, there was still no sign of a post from Ururu either.  Things didn't look promising

Crap.

Touya'd been taking a nap in the Sun Room when his nurse shook him awake with a bright grin plastered on her face. At that moment, Touya had known something was up. And thanks to Yuki's warning that morning, he knew what it was.

"Get up Thomas, you have a very special visitor today!" the nurse said, barely able to contain her giggles. Oi he hoped she wasn't giggling over his father. Oi that would be gross.

Minutes later, he was sitting on a couch waiting for his nurse to come back with his visitor. He hadn't seen anyone that he recognized in the lobby--maybe there had been some kind of mistake.

...though he couldn't help but feel like he was about to be assaulted. Or have his train of thought suddenly interrupted. It was a weird feeling, to be sure.

"TOOOOMMYYYYY~!" The squeal rang out as the dark-haired young woman burst through the door ahead of the nurse, her voice likely all too familiar even if the name wasn't. Without even giving him time to react to the greeting, she all but flew across the room to fling her arms around his neck. "I've missed you!"

And her grip was strong enough to prove that, too. Or to smother him, perhaps, but wasn't that was love was about?

Oh God why.

Why was Nakuru on him, her arms trying to squeeze him to death? Why was she even here to see him? What about his father? There wasn't even a strong enough bond between him and Nakuru for her to be all over him like this.

"Oi, Nakuru," Touya growled, trying to take her by her shoulders and let her off of him. "What are you doing here?"

She allowed herself to be pushed back a little bit, but her hands locked behind his neck as she looked up at him, all sad puppy-dog eyes and pouting. "Nakuru? Who's Nakuru? It's me, Tommy. Selina. Your girlfriend?"

The pout only deepened, and she gave a dramatic sniffle before burying her face against his shoulder. "Of course I came here! I had to come see you here in this dreadful place because I missed you soooo much!" she wailed, the fact that her voice was muffled by his shirt doing nothing to impact the ear-piercing quality of her voice.

This was beyond weird. Nakuru was saying her name was Selina, and was calling him Tommy. Which, he supposed, was an endearing nickname for Thomas. Which would also make sense, since she was his girlfriend.

Except.

"Look, Na-- Selina," Touya began. "I know you think I'm your boyfriend, but I'm not." You are quite possibly the last person I would think of dating, Touya thought, trying to disentangle himself from Nakuru's iron grip of luv-luv.

"Oh, Tommy, you're sick, I know. You haven't been feeling well for a while now and you forgot all those things." Even if she didn't think she was Nakuru, she still had the same talent for clinging like a velcro-furred koala, re-entangling herself every time one limb managed to be pulled free.

She did, however, finally draw back enough to look at him again, expression full of concern as she lifted a hand to touch his forehead, as though expecting him to be feverish. "I think I would know if I wasn't your girlfriend, Tommy. We've been together for a while now. You even carried my picture in your wallet, so everywhere you went I was always still with you." The last part was accompanied by a dreamy-sounding sigh, and seemed to distract her enough to leave her sitting next to instead of on top of him.

Even if she was off of him, Touya was still going pale. She was right--the wallet he'd found in the possessions room had a picture of them. At the time he hadn't thought much of it, but now it seemed more serious than a cheap parlor trick. More serious than just a photoshopped picture.

"Look, Selina," Touya began, wondering how to go about dumping a girl he'd never gone out with. Girls were strange creatures, honestly. "I did find your picture in my wallet, and I know it was me in that picture but... to be honest, you drive me insane. You're always hanging around me at school when I'm trying to talk to Yukito, and... I'm not interested in you like that. Not anymore, at least. And it's not your fault or anything, I've just... had a change of heart."

He really blew at this, didn't he? It didn't help that the last girlfriend he'd had, she'd said something about destiny and that they had to break up. Yeah, great training for this situation.

Her eyes just grew wider and wider as he spoke, her lower lip trembling a little as he reached the end and hands twisting in the fabric of her jacket. "You...you..." she began, voice wavering, then sniffled dramatically.

"It's okaaaaaay, Tommy!" she abruptly wailed, glomping onto his arm with a renewed death grip and rubbing her cheek against his shoulder. "I know you're only saying those things because you're not feeling well, and I still forgive you because I'll love you forever!"

If his arm survived that long, at least, and remained attached to his shoulder.

"O-oi, Nak-- Selina...!" Touya protested, trying to get his arm back. His efforts were more or less fruitless. Honestly, he didn't want to hurt Nakuru, but there was a fine line between delusional and dense. Nakuru was definitely delusional if she was saying she'd love him forever even though he'd just said that he didn't want to date her anymore. Even though they'd never dated before according to him.

"Selina, listen to me--you can love me forever, but I'm not going to return your feelings. I'm..." He screwed up his courage, feeling strangely as though Yuki were right behind him, in spirit. "I'm interested in someone else. I finally confessed how I felt to this person--and I'm happy. If you really love me, you'd want me to be happy, right?"

It was a little underhanded, he supposed, but if Nakuru didn't let go of his arm soon, he was going to get annoyed instead of just aggravated. It wasn't Nakuru's fault that Landel had brainwashed her--but there was only so much one boy could take.

The rest of his protests had clearly had little to no impact on her at all, but that did. Selina abruptly froze in place for a moment, then pulled away from him, for the first time since she'd entered the room no longer touching him in any way.

"It's Alex, isn't it." Her eyes narrowed, voice going sharp and accusatory. "You've had this weird obsession with him for ages now, and I thought, well, you're old friends and it's no big deal. But then he went off his rocker and got shut away and I thought it was over--"

And there she paused, realization dawning. "He's here, isn't he? Both of you, in the same place?"

"If by 'Alex' you mean Yukito, then yes. He's here," Touya said, his tone a little short. He didn't appreciate Nakuru accusing him of being obsessed with Yukito. They were friends, but Touya had never done--would never do--anything to make Yuki uncomfortable. Stalking, he supposed, was right up there with uncomfortable things.

"And I am not obsessed with him. You're jumping to conclusions because you're upset."

Though his mind couldn't help but drift back to that photo underneath the one of him and Nakuru--the one of the back of Yuki's and Yue's head. And the one of him looking at something else besides the camera. ...and the one of him by the bike rack...

"No, by Alex I mean Alex." Selina huffed in annoyance, folding her arms across her chest as she slouched against her chair. "I knew you were ill, but really, do you have to buy into his delusions, too? Don't I mean more to you than that, Tommy?"

Her fingers began to tap in an irritable rhythm against her arm. "After the things he's done the things he said to me, I can't imagine why you'd want to take his side. He accused me of trying to prevent him from getting better, when he was in the hospital. Me!"

Touya really didn't want to tell Nakuru that Yukito meant far more to him than not just her---but nearly everyone. She seemed upset enough already, though, so he didn't feel that making her even more upset was a good idea. Yukito's 'delusions' were his too, apparently, though she'd probably just think that he was following 'Alex' blindly.

But he couldn't help but be curious--just a little, though.

"He doesn't seem the type to do that," Touya said with a frown. "What did he do to you?"

"Besides saying horrible, mean things to me? About wanting to hurt you, and keep him sick, or hurt your sister?" The topic was clearly not one that Selina wanted to talk about, from the obvious annoyance in her tone. "I swear, he even tried to hit me before. I never did a thing to him!"

She seemed about to launch into a tirade, but abruptly cut herself short and took hold of his arm again with a dramatic sniffle. "But I don't want to talk about him. Even if he did drag you down into his sad crazy delusional world so that I never get to be with my darling Tommy until you're well again."

When she said that, Touya immediately felt very uncomfortable. He didn't trust Nakuru--he didn't really like her, nor were they friends despite how she was acting. But he trusted Yukito as well as Yue. If they thought that Nakuru was going to hurt Sakura or Touya, he knew they would have a good reason to think that.

And she was on his arm. Clearly wanting to be with him instead of him being with Yuki.

"I don't think Alex would do something like that," Touya replied. "When he says something, it's usually true." He looked down at her with an icy gaze. "But you're not trying to hurt Lily. I'm sure you aren't."

If she was, there would be hell to pay.

Selina's eyes went puppydog-wide at that, the very picture of injured innocence. "I wouldn't dream of hurting your sister, Tommy. She's the most adorable little thing ever, and we get along beautifully." She gave a sad little sniffle for dramatic emphasis. "It's so sad that you've forgotten all these things."

She paused there, looking even sadder than ever. "I wish you'd forgotten about Alex, though. All that following him around, and the pictures, and...I swear you're more familiar with his schedule than mine and I'm your girlfriend. I always thought you'd just get over it, but..." She glanced around the room significantly and sighed. Now he was in the crazy house and clearly hadn't gotten over it.
