Once the shift had changed, Homura headed downstairs for a brief time to check on the assorted information posted on the bulletin. Some of it was relevant to his interests--much moreso than he might have initially thought as he added replies. By the time his written conversation with Okita had finished, the demi-god's mood had changed significantly; instead of the reinforced confidence, Homura was left with the bitterness of rejection in his mind. Of course he hadn't expected anything different. He'd known Okita too long to expect anything besides what he had received. But once the replies had been removed, Homura returned upstairs, knowing he had his own appointment to keep. The quiet of the chapel would let him sort through his thoughts until Kenren arrived. For Homura, that was the only purpose this place of god-worship held.
Unfortunately, there was no pleasant place for his thoughts to retreat. If he wasn't considering what had transpired between himself and Okita, his mind wandered to what could be upsetting Kenren. He knew precious few facts about last night: the elder god had apparently been fine, with Nataku and someone else until he went off on his own. While Kenren was known for his recklessness, he wouldn't have crossed that particular line without reason. He'd always been protective of Nataku, even landing in prison for his transgressions one time five hundred years before. So despite being fully aware that Nataku could hold his own and better in most fights, Kenren still wouldn't have left the boy without a very compelling reason.
So he'd gone off on his own, and at some point between then and morning, it had happened: the unknown event or discovery that had brought Kenren to such a low place, even he couldn't hide the effects. Though he'd only known the elder god for a short time, Homura hadn't ever quite seen him this way before. It left him concerned for his friend, and questioning what could have possibly gone so wrong. Regardless, however, anything that Homura might assume would be nothing more than a guess, and he knew it. Though it was difficult, he had no other choice but to wait as patiently as was possible in his worry until Kenren arrived.
Something that was so simple for the logical mind to realize, but so difficult to actually do. With a sigh, Homura rolled his head back against the pew behind him, and let his eyes close.
[Closed to Kenren.]
