"All right, Bryan it is, then. So where's here?" he asked the woman, taking note of her loose-fitting outfit. She looked like a nurse, which made sense given that the room was starting to look more like it belonged in a hospital.

The woman looked pleased with his response. "You're in Landel's Institute, dear. Your parents sent you here because you weren't well. We're here to help you get back on the road to a normal, healthy life, one without all these troubling delusions they say you've been having," she explained.

Scott nodded, taking note of the exposition and the setting. "And just what kind of delusions have I been having?" he asked in his best main character voice.

"Well for one, as you seem to have accepted, your name is not Scott Pilgrim. Scott is a fantasy persona you created to shield yourself from the real world, and we'll be helping you let him go for good," the nurse answered with a cheery smile.

Scott paused on that point. Somehow, the game knew his real name, which weirded him out for a moment. Then he remembered that he had told it to the nurse upon waking up. Cool, this game must have voice recognition software! It's like that Pikachu game or something but better! This just keeps getting more awesome! He still found it a little weird that he couldn't seem to make himself lean back from the game and check for the headset microphone next to his mouth, but wrote it off as the game being just that immersive.

"Is there any other way to get out of here?" asked Scott. A game where he was supposed to play out therapy sessions sounded boring and stupid. There had to be another goal.

The nurse shook her head. "I'm afraid not, dear. You'll have to stay until the Head Doctor decides that you're better."

That bit of information was discouraging, but the nurse's mention of a Head Doctor made him interested. Whoever the Head Doctor was, he might be important to winning the game. Who knew? With a title like that, maybe he was the final boss. At the very least, he would be the fake final boss before the super-secret real one.

"All right, let's get out there and make me better then!" Scott told the nurse while clenching a fist in enthusiasm. The nurse was more than happy to escort him out of his room. As they walked, Scott kept an eye out for important doors, item boxes, and plot-related NPCs.
