Nightshift 38 - General Storage

[From hereClark did his best to ignore his stinging finger. It hurt, but it wasn't as bad as nearly getting gored that time with Claire, to put things in perspective. Still, if he was supposed to be as powerless as a human, he wished it'd gone all the way; right now it seemed to be in this uncomfortable halfway point and he had no idea if he still ( Read more... )

Brainiac 5 nodded. He hadn't been expect Clark to be badly hurt or anything from something so minor, but to be honest, he hadn't thought that Clark's abilities would be so affected that he would notice anything as minor as pushing the lock out of a door. It was something else he would have to make note of and investigate further at a later time.

For the moment, however, they had other matters to attend to. Moving away from the door, he shone his flashlight about the room, checking for anything interesting among the boxes of supplies. There seemed to be an abundance of extra clothing for the nurses and others in charge of the institute, as well as an array of different medical supplies. After a moments deliberation, Brainiac 5 took one of the small first aid kits and sandwiched a roll of gauze inside. He'd requested the item from Homura in order to carry out some very basic investigations - basic enough that he would have called them archaic, but no matter - but he reasoned that having a spare on hand wouldn't hurt.

"Clark? Have you found anything?" he called softly. Perhaps it was foolish, but something about the darkened room was making him feel more cautious.

Clark shook his head. It'd probably be easier to just x-ray the room, but while that seemed to be the safest of his powers, it was still unreliable. It might not work or it might be about as painful as using his heat vision had been earlier - should probably just stick to searching through stuff the old fashioned way, as in manually. Clark by now had wandered off, rummaging through some boxes and coming up with more of the same that Brainy had found. Some clothes for the staff, gloves, a few first aid kits and some Tylenol. Clark had no idea if it'd help him, but he couldn't see why he shouldn't take some just in case.

He held up the bottle. "Some Tylenol, but I don't see any flashlights here. Maybe we should check another room?"

Brainiac 5 tilted his head and studied the bottle for a moment. "Tylenol?" he asked, clearly confused. There had been some similar bottles in the first aid kit, but he'd decided he could ask about them later.

"No, I didn't find any flashlights either," he said with a sigh. "Hopefully we'll have more luck in another room." Glancing around one last time, he slipped out the door and back into the hallway.
