Nightshift 21 - Hallway M71 - M80

Dinner was another treat for Rabastan. Three whole meals a day was going quite aways towards making him happy with Landel’s. The Jello had been something of a surprise, but after realizing that it was like pudding except fruit flavoured, it had been quickly consumed. If he kept eating at this rate (since other than breakfast nothing had been sicked back up) Bast was going to put on some weight. The locked door hadn’t bothered him in the least. Maybe some of the people around here were sleepwalkers. It made sense in BastLogic.

The intercom was started at curiously as the Head Doctor spoke, the prisoner’s eyes narrowed down some. Find people in experiments? Was this a game? Despite the words the man spoke, it was the tone that mattered to Rabastan. He knew madness when he heard it, and this Head Doctor was clearly insane. Megalomania at best, homicidal perhaps considering that megalomania tended to elevate into other crimes as the sense of self-entitlement grew stronger. Rabastan could deal with that though.

Checking his wand, he headed towards the now unlocked door cheerfully. It was like a treasure hunt! It certainly beat sitting in all night, right? It was only when the radio began speaking that he stopped. Picking up the odd little box, he pressed his ear to it.

“Hello?”

When Mr Radio began speaking again, Bast’s eyes went wide. There was somehow a tiny person trapped in there! He gave brief thought to smashing the thing open to free whoever it was, but the man didn’t sound overly distressed to be in there. Maybe he was happier in there. Patting the radio, Bast crooned to it quietly. “Don’t worry any. I’ll take care of you. I’ll keep you away from the white doctors. You just keep hiding in there, okay?”

Holding the radio in one hand and his wand in the other, Bast pushed open his door and stepped into the hallway. The darkness wasn’t a problem just yet for him, comforting in a way as he started creeping down the hall. Maybe he’d meet his brother! Well, pseudo-brother. Squall was probably lonesome without him. Humming to himself, Bast padded down the hall.
