[from
here]This was a bit more like it. Definitely a different outside area than she'd been earlier. It looked a bit like a football field, but why a hospital would have one of those... Although, why a hospital would be staffed by cats was an equally good question, but New New York had those, didn't it

There was only one other person in the field when Yuffie got there, and she barely managed to surpress the urge to whoop and dance a little jig of victory. She'd won a nonexistant race! She hadn't been eaten along the way!
She... had nothing to do until the others arrived.
Bummer.
Yuffie's shoulders slumped as she walked a little ways away from the door, but she perked up again a moment later. The guys wouldn't be too long (or so she hoped), unless they got eaten along the way. So, until they hurried their asses up, she'd just have to find a way to occupy herself. Spinning lightly on the ball of her foot, she turned to keep an eye on the doors that led out onto the field, the hand holding the lawnmower blade planted loosely against her hip.
She was alert, though, ready to move and act in a split second if she needed to. After that giant man and his pets from Hell, she wasn't taking any chances.

Pushing the door open to the Recreational Field, Cloud stepped out and glanced to the sky to see the type of weather that they could be expecting. He turned looked around the field before his glowing eyes settled on Yuffie standing alone a short distance away, and it did not look like she was causing any trouble for herself. Now, he could simply be concerned for the kind of trouble she would bring to him instead.
He approached and looked to the blade that she carried. The fact that she had it out meant that she was obviously either ready for what they would face or scared. He crossed his arms over his chest and tilted his head to the side. "Sanosuke just went to get his partner. They will meet us here shortly," he said neutrally.
Slowly, he turned and pressed his back against the nearby wall of the Institute. "No troubles?"

Even though the field was pretty much as dark as the rest of the place, it didn't take long for Sano to spot a familiar twirl of endless movement near the door. He grinned as he pointed her out to Kenshin, then headed over, making sure he got there before the rurouni.
That way, Sanosuke wouldn't be the last one there.
"Hey Ninja Girl. Didn't get eaten on the way, huh?" Sanosuke nodded to Cloud, then pointed with his thumb at the shorter man with him. "This is the guy I was telling you about. Name's Kenshin." Then for the rurouni's benefit, the motioned to Yuffie and Cloud, each in turn. "The one that can't stay still is Yuffie, and Sunshine over there is Cloud, my roommate."

A smirk spread across her face when Sanousuke and Kenshin arrived moments later. She skipped closer, dropping her arm from her hip. "I didn't get eaten, but both of you are late!" And whether or not she actually did anything about that remained to be seen. But hey, it'd be fun if her glee made them paranoid.
She came to a stop when she got closer, examining Kenshin curiously. His shortness, his redness, the scar... Yeah, he definitely was somebody rememberable. And, apparently, so was she. "That wasn't me you met." She scratched the back of her neck, her grin awkward but no less genuine. "That was a different me, which is just totally crazy, isn't it?"
But if she'd been hanging around with this guy before, she'd either wanted to use him, or she'd liked him. Yuffie was placing her bets on the ( ... )

He turned his head when the familiar figure of his roommate appeared, his glowing blue eyes dropping to regard the other man following. He nodded his head to the introduction, though had to raise an eyebrow at being referred to as 'sunshine'. He was fairly certain that he was being mocked, but it was a name that he was used from military training camps. His sergeant called him that way too much for it to be healthy.
Pushing off the wall, he gestured with his chin towards the wall. "We should not waste time," he murmured. "Pleasure to meet you, Kenshin," he added before starting across the Recreational Field towards the wall.

But now she knew that it had been Sagara's fault that they'd been late, and that was enough to pull her attention away from tormenting Cloud. "I knew it!" She grinned up at Sagara, nudging him with her elbow. "Your excuses aren't gonna work."
If he wanted her to hit harder, though, he'd better be prepared to face the consequences; it practically screamed of a challenge to the young ninja. Yuffie had a dastardly idea of where she could've aimed for, if she'd used her knee instead of her fist. That totally would've gotten his attention, wouldn't it? Maybe she should save that one for a super special occasion, though ( ... )

He was still trying to get over the fact that he had not had a pill forced down his throat tonight. It felt like there was still time for it to happen, but only Sanosuke knew that he frequently had run-ins with the nurses before bed time.
He hated pills... and sedation for that matter.

But the damage was done, and Yuffie bounded off. Sanosuke was about to follow when she came back just as fast, flailing over Kenshin's age. The fighter had to laugh, having seen the reaction countless times, including on his own face. "Not unless you age well. Kenshin's twenty-eight alright. You're probably closer to nineteen like I am."
About then Sano noticed something else, and he pointed off where Cloud was. "Uh, guys?" He looked between the two, half tempted just to pick them up and go. "Looks like Sunshine is abandoning us."

Unfortunately, in the end something had to come in and make sure that Cloud and the others didn't make such good time. Out of nowhere, Peter teleported in from halfway across the field, appearing about ten feet in front of the blond man.
He took in the group of four. He was definitely outnumbered, and yet even in this case he knew he had the advantage. He eyed them, wondering who would be the largest threat.
"Sorry," he started, "but I'm going to have to ask all of you to head back inside." Even though reasoning hadn't worked with the girl from before, that was still going to be his first option. That man who had come to save her proved that some of the patients understood the risks.

It didn't take any guesstimating for her to know that Cloud had gone wandering off without them, though. Damn that pain in the ass! Was he trying to escape from her or something? He probably was. Yuffie narrowed her eyes at his retreating back, squinting in the moonlight. "I'm gonna kick that idiot in the head!" She grumbled, dashing past Kenshin and adding a few one-handed cartwheels and handsprings just for flair. Then could plant her slippered foot right there-
The arrival of a new guy was like a gigantic wrench landing in the middle of her plans. Instead of kicking Cloud as she'd planned, she vaulted over his shoulder and skidded to a halt a few feet in front.
"What's your deal?" She demanded, shifting into her basic fighting stance. First he appeared out of nowhere, and now this? Sizing them up, telling them to go back outside, like he had authority to make them listen ( ... )

This was another Itachi, someone who was doing what the Institute wanted. They were admittedly at better odds with more people, but it was best not to waste time on someone who could and would probably try to maim them.
His right hand rose and grasped the sword from the bag hanging down his back, withdrawing it as he simply continued to walk right passed Yuffie. "He is an special councelling person," he said to her neutrally as he held his blade out towards Peter. "I faced one two nights ago. Do not let your guard down, Yuffie."
Planting his feet, he leapt at Peter suddenly. He swung his short sword downwards in an attempt to cleave the brunette in two.

Like Cloud was doing just then.
Sanosuke let out a sharp curse as he ran the short distance to catch up. What the hell did Cloud think he was doing? Unless there was something he wasn't telling, Sanosuke was pretty damn sure they didn't have powers like that. At least Sano knew that he and Kenshin didn't, even if they were better than most guys at what they did. The problem was that Cloud was trying to kill the guy with that blow, and that meant Kenshin was stepping in, one way or another ( ... )
