NIGHTSHIFT 32: M11-20 HALLWAY

May 30, 2008 21:43

It was fairly obvious that Ken thought it was a bad idea for him to go off by himself, but Yue remained determined to stick to his plans for the evening. He did at least take along the bat his roommate had given him, reluctantly giving in to the possibility that it might actually be needed. It was mildly annoying to have to deal with that and the ( Read more... )

Hijikata set out his light and took off the clumsy shuffling slippers that this place issued its prisoners, glad for the better traction of bare feet. Tonight, again, he would be waiting for a visitor to his room; their "blanket-maker," whoever that might be.

He tugged out the strange stretchy band holding his ponytail, sweeping the long black strands carefully back into a neater mass before winding the band once more around them. Though he had nothing but his shapeless gray clothes to wear, he could at least put on the best possible appearance.

That done, he settled down to wait.

He was very glad that the room was only in the next corridor along from his own. It meant he didn't have to dodge too many people and could mostly make do without the flashlight, there were enough people around with lights. He reached the room without incident and went to find the right door. M16... M16... M16... Ah, there!! He reached it and then went to knock on the door, calling out as well so the person (Hiji-something-or-other) didn't think it was someone randomly knocking for the hell of it. "Uh... It's the..." Oh man, did he really have to say it? It hurt his pride as an alchemist! "Basket weaver," he finished with a soft sigh.

Hijikata snorted a brief laugh, going to the door to open it. "I thought it was blankets, not baskets," he commented, looking down ... and down. Their smith appeared to be the size and age of his page.

Well, as long as he had the skills, it didn't matter. He raised an eyebrow, waving the "basket weaver" into the room as he stepped back from the door.

Ed rolled his eyes in exhasperation at the really freaking stupid names. Did people really reckon they were fooling anyone? "Blankets... baskets... they're easy words to get mixed up when you don't pay much attention to the Club posts," he grumbled as he stepped inside. He took a moment to take a good look at the man before nodding. "I'd rather just call it alchemy because that's what it is." Stupid names, insulting the honour of his craft!

Uh anyway... "I'm Edward Elric, the Fullmetal Alchemist. What kind of sword do you want?"

Luxord slipped out of his room, leaving Tyche on his bed curled up in the blankets and his roommate to do whatever. The Gambler had business to attend to this night, so Not-Noah could have fun with whomever was visiting. So long as they let Tyche rest, he'd no qualms.

For a creature merely able to recall emotions, bloodlust was something so easy to remember.

"Peanut," he called out in a sing-song voice to nowhere in particular, only wishing to summon the ghost who haunted him at night. "Where aaare you, love~?"

M13 was on the farther end of the hallway, one that was even emptier than the last. With his flashlight he located the correct door, and after a pause gave a few knocks. Zuko shifted his weight onto his uninjured leg as he waited.

Zuko looked down at the pillowcase. His file was in the closet back in his room-- still untouched for the most part. And even though it had occurred to him that there could be things in other people's files to use against them if things ever went sour, Zuko decided not to look through any of them.

Homura had gone through the usual preparations for night, including changing into his normal clothes without care for his new roommate's opinion of the act. The necessary supplies were out, ready to be taken at a moment's notice, when Zuko knocked on the door. It hadn't taken the boy long to get there, and that was fortunate; there was a great deal to be done tonight.

Homura opened the door, nodding to the teen in question as he stepped aside. "Come in. Those are the files?" Homura motioned to the bulky pillowcase before pointing his hand to his dresser. "Over there is fine. I believe I was going to tell you about how they used loved ones in this place, wasn't I?"

Hijikata passed through the hallway without incident, ignoring all the other prisoners of this place as they headed off in their various directions, and knocked quietly at the door of room M13. Convenient that their meeting place was so close; the less time wasted tonight, the better.

Zuko nodded and entered the room, hiding his limp with slightly slower steps.

"You were," Zuko neutrally answered Homura's second question as he carefully emptied his pillowcase of the files onto the dresser. Once that was done he turned around to face the man for their conversation, but then Zuko heard a quiet knock on the door. More members of the club he guessed from the notes on the board.

[continued from dinner conversation here]

"Oh, pish-posh," Ashton scoffed back at the redhead, sitting down on the bed and lacing up his boots, less comfortable yet more comforting than the standard-issue Landel's slippers. "There's stuff around here anywhere you look, if you're lucky! Which I - ..well, I'm not. If I came with you guys, that'd probably just guarantee that you wouldn't find anything, unfortunately ( ... )

Axel couldn't help but groan, still in the middle of dancing into his pants by the time the lights flickered off. Admittedly enough, he was pretty interested with what the Head Doctor was rambling about, but he could only assume that there were at least a dozen other people with the same goal in mind.

It took longer than usual to change into his Organization uniform, so he wasn't surprised to find Roxas knocking at his door just as he zipped up his coat. However, Ashton beat him to the punch and answered the door before could even reach for his crutches, earning the brunet an exaggerated scoff before slipping back into a grin.

"Hey stranger, what brings you to these parts?" The Nobody called out while he searched for his chakram beneath his mattress.

There was nothing left to do but wait for Usopp’s answer, and until then he had quite a number of tasks to keep himself occupied. He had yet to meet with Logan and show the short hairy human the way to the medical area, and while it wasn’t technically a long trek, Yuber held no doubt that it would take longer than necessary if they were unfortunate enough to stumble across any monsters. Walking these hallways was reminding him of many Sindar temples back in his realm, but the only annoying difference was the fact that he didn’t have any proper weapons and his powers were severely limited.

Picking up the makeshift sword from between the mattress and the frame, the Black Knight made his way out of his room and down the hall. It would be easier to meet with Logan out in the main hall, but he hoped for the little mortal’s sake they didn’t dawdle.
