And so, twice in one day, Logan had gone from feeling even smaller than he already was, to being once again confident and reassured. Things weren't as bad as he'd led himself to believe, and he had just as much of a fighting chance as he'd ever had in this place, especially with good people on his side. The trip back to his room was swift and uneventful, and he actually took the time to thank his nurse for the evening meal, rather than simply ignore her as he usaully did.

The grizzled Canadian mutant wasted no time in ploughing through his meal as he awaited the arrival of his roommate. They had a lot to discuss, after all.

While Peter had been overjoyed to see Harry again, the reunion had tired him out, and he had decided to spend the fourth shift taking it easy in the Sun Room. He hadn't exactly been expecting to run into someone who should have been dead, after all.

As the nurse led him back to his room, he was glad to know that he actually did have some information he could give Logan this time, not to mention filling him in about Harry. He was also curious about what his roommate would be up to tonight, though he was sure he would get the whole scoop soon. Unlike him, Logan didn't seem the sort to keep secrets from friends.

I guess we are friends now. It was strange -- the last thing he had been expecting to do in this place was buddy up with anyone ( ... )

Logan had already finished eating by the time Peter had arrived, and was sitting relaxedly on his bed, idly picking his teeth with the plastic fork he'd been given to eat with. He was thinking over the day's discussions and took a second to register the younger man's presence ( ... )

Glad to see that Logan was in a good mood himself (or as good as their moods could be considering their situation), Peter started in on his food as the older man explained.

While he was sure Logan could take care of himself, he wasn't too secure with the fact that his roommate was heading off with someone he wasn't that comfortable with. Then again, it wasn't like they had the best group of people to choose from as companions, though Peter knew there were some decent people around just based off of random people he had spoken to during the dayshift.

"Yeah, don't worry about me. You're right about a friend of mine showing up, and he's pretty reliable." That wasn't entirely true, as his history with Harry had gotten pretty messy, but he was certain that from here on out Harry could be trusted. Besides, there was no reason to worry Logan. "His name's Harry Osborn... I don't know if you know some other version of him, but he's my best friend." He felt like he should point out that Eddie wasn't a friend at all, but he got the feeling ( ... )

It was a relief that he didn't have to cut his roommate entirely adrift tonight, and he was pleased that Parker had more than one person to watch his back. Even with all his power, he was still just an insecure kid. The name Osborn rang a bell, but only faintly. Osborn Industries had been a pretty big player in the weapons development field back in the day, but he doubted Parker's friend had anythng to do with them. Surely the name was just coincidence.

"Well, if he's yer bes' frien', then ya should def'nitely stick ta'gether." The closest Logan had to a 'best friend' was the Elf, and the odds of Kurt turning up here were slim to none. He broke out of his reverie. "He seemed pretty keen on findin' out more 'bout yer 'Venom' pal. interested in trackin' him down, by tha sounds o' things. He know him, too?" It sounded like the three of them had history ( ... )

Peter definitely didn't like the thought of Harry searching out Eddie, seeing how that had turned out in the past. He could understand why his friend would want to take out his frustration on Brock, but it just wasn't practical, especially not here. Peter knew that Eddie probably still had some potential to be dangerous, even if he also had to be weakened at Landel's ( ... )

Realising their time was growing short, Logan hopped off the bed and underwent a brief series of stretches. After that, he lifted his mattress and retrieved the knife Cole had given him by way of 'Lord' Recluse. It really was a good knife, well-balanced and razor-sharp, and still in more-than-serviceable condition despite the usage it had had. With an absent twirl, he slipped into the back of the waistband of his pants as he listened to his roommate talk. Unconsciously, he tried extending his claws again. Still nothing. Having them back would make things so much easier. But then, there was more than one way to skin a Head Doctor.

"Yer righ', infightin's not gonna solve a damn thing. Hell, that's prob'ly what they wan' us ta do. They win' us up an' jus' watch as we tear each other's throa's out. Can' let tha' happen." He scowled as he remembered his 'conversation' with Brock (he'd figured out who it was eventually) on the bulletin board. Parker must have seen it too, as it took place under a notice meant for him and Statesman ( ... )

At least Logan seemed to understand that he shouldn't worry too much about Eddie, though sometimes people couldn't always practice what they preached. Peter didn't want to push the subject, though, since the bickering between Logan and Eddie had remained just that -- bickering. If it ever got worse than that, he could always step in and hopefully at least get Logan to see the futility of it.

Seeing how Logan was getting ready, Peter hurried up with his food, turning to the pie. It managed to bring up yet another memory: Harry's grinning face as he had savored it that one day. Peter let out a breath and tried to push the image away, but he wasn't too eager on eating the dessert anymore ( ... )

Logan smiled again as he watched Parker hurry his meal. Sometimes the younger heroes needed to be reminded about priorities, and making sure they were ready. And sometimes, if they were particularly astute (as Parker was), it didn't even take words. It was strange, how the younger man seemed to have suddenly lost interest in his pie. He thought to ask about it, but didn't really see the point. They were all entitled to change their minds on a whim, after all. It was part of being human. Or mutant, as it were.

Logan listened to the Spider as he continued to talk whilst he changed. The smile faded quickly at the news he was given. Part of him didn't want to hear about it, as Cole's words about reining in his inner beast still echoed in his ears. But another part of him knew he had to know more; the information might be useful, even invaluable, in the growing development of plans to take the fight to Landel. Gritting his teeth and breathing deeply, slowly, Logan tried to focus on keeping calm. "Oh? Do tell, bub."

"All right, one second." Peter rushed to get his outfit on, though it didn't take that long considering how used he was to having to pull it on with hardly any time to do it.

He kept the mask off for now as he walked over to where he had left his journal on his desk, picking it up and flipping to the page he had taken notes on earlier in the day. "I didn't get his name, but he told me that he woke up on a table with no idea of how he got there, and there was a doctor in the room with him who knew too much. I'm not sure what that means, but it doesn't sound good. The guy dyed one of his eyes a different color somehow, and also changed his hair color. He said it was because he was trying to make him look like some future incarnation of himself, since reincarnation is real where he comes from." He closed the journal and set it down with a sigh, then turned to look Logan in the eye ( ... )

Logan did his best to keep cool, but could feel the anger rising as the Spider spoke all the same. Easy, bub. Keep it ta'gether. He'd said the doctor 'knew too much', which just confirmed Logan's suspicions. He said so. "Soun's 'bout righ'" He growled. "I knew it. They know who we really are, wha' we c'n do. They know an' they wanna exploit us...somehow." It wasn't much to go on, but the puzzle's pieces were starting to fall into place. And this particular puzzle was far from fun. His scowl deepened at Parker's next line.

"Reincarnation, huh? Not impossible." He'd remember being told that he was a reincarnation himself. Of the Hand of God, no less. Of course, he didn't believe a word of it. His brow furrowed further at the notion of being given future memories. But then again, after the amount of mental tampering he'd gone through, he wasn't quick to dismiss that, either ( ... )
